My 3ng - Starting My Life Anew

Recommended Posts

My eletrical wiring installation is in progress now.

I suddenly realised that for dining area, after creating the false ceiling which is 4 inch down from the existing ceiling, the ceiling become so low!

I can almost touch the ceilng when i raise my hand. This is partly because i do overlay for living room floor also.

I am thinking not doing the false ceiling to accomodate the downlights already.

I may just use wall lights. Are wall lights bright enuff?

I never had experience using wall lights before.

Comment... anyone?

Wall lights like those for balcony? If u want to brighten up the place, I think u need a few wall lights to do so. False ceiling will make the whole place lower. But u will get use to it after some time.

When i tip-toe, i can touch the ceiling already. It is that low.

Does the PLC downlight generates heat? Cos i work at the dining table and if the ceiling is so low and i feel the heat, not so nice.

Looking for alternative solution....

hi gantan88.. i thot there is a height limit from ceiling to floor set by HDB? it can't be that low unless u are very tall (are u above 1.8m?).

i think so too, if not wrong, total height must not be less than 2.4m.

I am only 1.7m.

The situation here is that i extend the living room into the kitchen.

The extension area (into the kitchen) will be my dining area, and thus the ceiling for my dining area is the original kitchen ceiling.

Then i overlay my living and dining room flooring.

And i put false ceiling for my dining area to accomodate the PLC lights).

So with a raised flooring height (due to overlay) and lower ceiling (due to false ceiling), now i tiptoe raise my hand can almost touch the ceilings already.

I hope i am not too confusing over here...

Can anyone advise on how i can mount my cooking utensils/crockeries on the backing if i am using:

a. Glass backing

b. Stainless Steel backing

My kitchen has no tiles. Can drilling be done on stainless steel?

Use 3M products to hang things if i am using glass backing? Do they stick firm on the glass?

Advice pls... thanks.....

:)

your contractor never tell you about this requirement before overlaying your floor? :( How thick is your overlay?

Drilling can be done on stainless steel.

3M is best for smooth surfaces like glass and stainless steel, even acrylic.

I believe he told me before but i forgotten. I have to go measure again on Saturday....

How do you mount your "dressed up" tubes? Does it need false ceiling? I am thinking of not doing the false ceiling for dining already bcos it makes the ceiling too low and also it cost $480 :D :-p

I am going to stick those stainless steel bar with hooks for me to hang things. Like Ikea kitchen style. It got to be strong enuff to hold bottles like oyster source, cooking oil etc... Never use such products before....

My living room tv console power points, tel point, scv and LAN cables all coming in from bedrooms... look ugly...

Measured again just now. My floor to celing height for dining area is 241cm. If do false ceiling, ceiling will be lowered by another 4 inches = 231cm = Fail HDB regulation...

But dunno why contractor did not remind me on this....

Now i dunno what to do for my dining area lighting...

:-S
