My 3ng - Starting My Life Anew

Recommended Posts

I went to the Blum showroom (at Ubi) to find out about the products and get their advice on what would be suitable for our kitchen. Then I contacted the three dealers to ask for quotations for the products I wanted. Then I went to the Admiralty branch of Viborg (which is also at Kranji). I figured I'd make payment and arrange for delivery. But I realised after the visit that I needn't have gone all the way there cos Zixiang (who I spoke with there) said I could give him a cheque once he delivered.

Thanks Macbert, i just realised the showroom i mentioned is Blum's partner showroom and is not the main one.

Hi gantan, I believe you should be looking at aventos.

THanks. For drawers i should be looking at TANDEM right?

And also for normal cabinet doors, i should be looking at the "Blumotion for carcases" (the $4.51) one? It is integrated hinge + blumotion?

Yes, hydraulic arm comes together with glass shelf and cabinet frame. If you buy the small one (70cm x40cm), it's $75. Big one (92cm x40cm) is $85. If you only want the hydraulic arm, you can buy the small one. But doesn't come with door. Doors are sold separate.

I'm at ikea now. Just saw four of the larger one, with glass shelf, but without hydraulic arm, at the as-is section for $40 each.

i saw them yesterday already, thanks though. didn't get them as they don't come with the hydraulic arms. they're old series. new series have hydraulic arm at $85 for brand new. $40 for non-brand new without hydraulic is imho expensive :D

corner or cap means the pvc strip that they use to make a sharp corner edge for all your wall corners. without the corner or cap, your plaster will chip off easily when impacted. it's very cheap, but useful tool for marking up of prices :P

today I found out that the pvc corner strip costs $1 for 2m :D

For my 3-rm flat, I bought 50 strips. For corners of beams and walls.

Tandembox - drawers, yes. but there are lots of choose from (S1, S2, S3, S4, i3, i4, i5, i6). For normal cabinet doors, you need a clip top hinge and a mounting plate for each hinge.. and at least one blumotion for doors. The ones I used were part number 75T1550, 173H7100 & 973A0500.01.

I suggest a visit to the Blum showroom. Have an idea of the layout of your kitchen and talk to the experts there. They can advice you not only the Blum products suitable for your kitchen, but even advice you on the layout of your kitchen and the type of storage to consider.

Can anyone advise are the following suitable one?

For lift-up mechanism for the dish drainer set cabinet, do we use the clip-top with blumotion?

you should consider the Aventos series.....model will depend on the type of lift-up you want.

That cheap? So 1 strip is 2 metres?

Hi Macbart, thanks for the info, I am planning to visit the Ubi showroom this week, though a bit far from me as i stay in the west. And i hope i do not have to help out with the delivery like you do. :D

Impt is handover on time and i can move in on time!

when's your handover?

am so tired the last couple of days....been running up and down to check on the subcons ...(no internet to reply mails/renotalk)

i poked my contractor a bit, and this week, things finally started moving...

altho, din move as what he promised lah...but i also realise sometimes cannot be helped ones...

as long as things get done well, ok lah....chin chye..

is your plastering all done up?

it does take quite a few days to plaster, even for a small flat like ours.

ceilings are quite tiring, so that would take 2 days...then the walls will be much faster.

by this week you should see some nice smooth walls...

make sure after plastering, your ID applies a sealant.....

after my plastering, some oil (according to contractor) seeped thru the plaster and left splotches of yellow....

must seal to prevent cement "oil" or moisture from seeping thru.

catch up again :)
