arangy 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 I have a solid postform top and the laminate is coming off and rotten. I like to replace it and got a quote from a carpenter. The shape is a L shaped about 10ft by 3 ft. The carpenter want to charge me $1500. That include a. replace the top with postform b. remove the old sink from my old postform top and put it in. c. remove the kitchen stove (kitchen stove at the 3ft end) and put it back I will need to get someone from PUB to re connect the stove. d. he will also do some repairs. Given that solid top ranges from 80 to 180 psf, do you think for 1.5K to do the above is expensive? The carpenter said to me, if I want solid top, to cut a hole, every hole is 200 bucks. I think he is bull****ting me. He said to cut the hole for the sink and kitchen top is 200 bucks each.

jaskel 2 Report post Posted September 27, 2009 hi, thanks for the reply. The quote for 1500 is for postform top. Postform top cost few hundreds only...so $1K is more than enough already.
gladyslim 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2009 Replacement of postform top is not difficult, just remove the screw and the silicon sealing but fixing of sink & stove is quite troublesome. U can get postform top from hardware shop or direct from laminate Co. about $200/- for a lenght of 13ft. It is better for u to order from furniture fabricator as u need to cut to sizes and the opening of holes. PM u a contractor to check with.
