Finishings For Balcony Railings

Hi everybody,

Thought I'd like to have an opinion here.

What sort of finishings should I use on my balcony railings, which are visible from a long-distance away.

If normal gloss paint, this would be quite common, and the selection of colors would be key. Or is there something called metallic-color paint, which, after applying onto the iron railings, would make them look like stainless steel ?

What about stones, etc ? Anything I can 'stick' on top of the railings instead of the usual painting work ?
