Panasonic Washer - Na-14va1was

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

Started the LG washer topic but chanced upon this new new Panasonic Washer (NA-14VA1WAS). Amazed by their specs:

Tilted Drum: 70% Water Savings (Most Water Efficient in Singapore)

The tilted drum design with advanced technology control enables 70% water savings, using only 44L per wash.

Eco Drive Inverter: 20% Energy Savings

Inverter flexibly changes the motor's rotation and output to achieve the most energy efficient performance resulting in 20% energy savings against EU A-Level energy saving standards.

3D Sensor Wash: Outstanding Washing Performance

The high performance 3D sensor detects the movement of laundry in the machine, enabling the laundry to tumble from the optimal position, resulting in the highest washing performance.

It's selling at a thousand plus in Courts, HV...Anyone has any comments? Panasonic is made in Japan one rite?

Hi

I am also looking at this Panasonic Washer. Still can't make up my mind too. :help:

I am comparing this brand with Bosch. You can take a look at the bosch specification here.

http://www.bosch-home.com/my/bosch/product...41ME,WAS24441ME

A close relative is currently using this washer and she has no regret on her purchase despite the higher cost.

I went down to Best Denki at Bishan to look at the Panasonic Washing Machine.

The salesman told us that Panasonic has used Bosch drum technology to manufacture this model. :dribble:

But my wife is having second thought as the salesman claimed that it is better to get a 8kg washing machine if we are going to wash king size bedsheet.

Have anyone heard of such matter before? :dunno:

For KING size bed... I suggest to get a 10kg washing machine...

I tested on my parent home 8.5kg washing machine and in the end , I still need to separate two time just to wash Queen size bed sheet, pillow, bolster, quilt cover & the Protective sheet.

Panasonic claims this washer to be the most economical.

But it seems they don't have enough confidence to compare apples with apples.

Their ad is comparing against top loader.

Tilted drum is a big thing abt ten yrs ago.

For the same given level, volume of water in a tilted drum is always lower.

But those days, clothes are submerged in water when washed.

Look thru the porthole of the latest European type front loaders and you hardly see any water.

Only suds and wet clothes sloshing around.

Electrolux was one of the tilted drum pioneers at the time.

Claiming lower water usage.

These days the top of the line Electrolux washer also has a tilted drum.

But they don't claim lower water usage as the reason for the design now.

Its more for easy reach of the laundry.

I was contemplating with Hitachi , samsung and panasonic washing machine. The prices are competitive with one another. I bought Panasonic NA-F80H1 a few days ago and paid $549 during in house promotion, the usual price is $599. It is a 8 kg load , features aquabeat plus, Ag crystal shower, foam wash, twin washboard, anti bacteria pulsator. I washed dark color clothings like black and it was clean, unlike my old machine I can still see traces of dirt on the fabric.

Didn't choose Samsung because the top cover panel is tempered glass, find it risky cos I am very clumsy and bamboo poles always fall and hit the washer cos the sales rep said it cost nearly $200 to replace the glass panel.

Hitachi is one of my choice but not my budget, the good point is you can control the spin speed power at 400/600/800 to match different types of fabric.

My view is all machines have different features to highlight their products. You must know what you want. For me , I needed a Ag crystal shower to wash baby clothes and price not more than $550 so Panasonic is my choice. All warranty covers the internal motor parts only but not the sensor board. I won't pay high price to electrial applicances cos they depreciate fast as new models with tip top features come in quickly so there's no way for us to follow the trend.

Ya that's what Panasonic claims...I'm deciding btw LG and Panasonic. I like LG's direct drive...but at the same time attracted by Panasonic's ad.

The new panasonic washer's claim is 44l itres based on cottons eco wash which is a programme formulated by themselves. The standard cotton water consumptions can go up to 75l. Manufacturers these days will always use clever marketing tactics to claim optimum results, features, favourable comparisons etc.. Most however will have a * , then some fine print below, which suggests otherwise. It's not wrong, just clever. For eg; Brandt claims to have an opti 45min wash.. But a look at the manual tells you its for half load. Singapore Nea tick ratings are based on each manufacturer's test reports not their own testing, unlike europe and america. For eg; a cheap Fisher n Paykel dryer with 60l drum capacity, 5kg load uses 3.6kw per hour, given 3 ticks. A more expensive Bosch dryer with 100 lit capacity,8kg using 4.4kw per hr given 3 ticks. A very expensive miele dryer, 6kg, 100 litre using 3.6l, given 3 ticks. Every information is available excapt size of the drum. U have to use ur own measuring tape n use drum cylinder formula to calculate the sizes. The manufacturer's hide all these info. So do u believe that a $500 Fisher n paykel dryer is more energy efficient than a miele or a bosch? Or why an 8kg bosch dryer is the same size as a 6kg miele dryer? Same for washer. My fellow cromodora frnd here is right that panasonic compares actually to a top loader, and the design of the drum offers little advantages to saving water.

But i do think the 3D sensing feature is quite interesting. I wonder what technology is used as I'm not familiar with that. A plus point is the inverter motor, shared by electrolux, is quiet, using FC motor, if I'm not wrong. But I think, now that panasonic makes their front loader in china, is a serious minus point. But overall, i think panasonic makes the longest lasting top loader in the market, but I'm not sure about their front loader credibility though, as I said, experience counts!

Wa...that's quite an info there. Thanks so much! I think I will go ahead and buy LG cos it's cheaper compared to Panasonic and since the latter is manufactured in China...yes, it is a minus point. At least LG is made in Korea. I like LG's direct drive function...veri quiet. The design of Panasonic wins here. It's veri sleek...but cost roughly a thousand which is more ex than LG. Function wise, I will choose LG ba. And of cos other European brands seems not bad as well. But gonna burn a hole in my pocket. Most of my friends advise me to get a cheaper washer cos spolit le can change a new one.

according to pub website, this panasonic model uses only 6 litres per kg and has a 3 tick water efficiency label.... is this also "false" advertising???

Also just read that the drum capacity is 55 litres, so how can it use up to 75 litres? can anyone explain?

The drum in a washer is not holding the water.

Its full of holes.

Seriously though..

The tub or drum size hardly gets filled to capacity with water so is not determinant of water usage.

Observe a washing cycle.

Water gets pumped in and out more than once.
