takomi 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2009 Need some advise. My quotation is without the base for the kitchen cabinet. But I saw the base was contructed yesterday and informed ID abt it. yoongf 11 Report post Posted September 3, 2009 Personally, I prefer the base. Suspended cabinet look nice if got light underneath and it always on. If not on, it is a dark area. For it to look nice, suspened cabinet need to be quite high, which means less storage space. If got gas tank even harder to fit. Dark area is hard to clean, and will attact insects /dust. ivy 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2009 mine partially suspended but not really so high leh the suspension. if u like the suspended one u should ask him to do it in accordance to your liking. For my case initially contractor also do sala, do the full base for me. After that they hack off the part that is supposed to be suspended. Also suspended cabinets doesn't mean below totall no support. Anyway I wanted a suspended kitchen cabinet initally. but, I also love to have a big drawer to place my pots, pans, and bowls. Hence my contractor advised that having a suspended one, I cant have a big drawer with heavy stuff, else will warp in near future. So to playsafe, and not knowing how many years i'm going to stay in this house, I gave up the idea of having a suspended one. Your contractor just want to save labour because adding reinforcement behind the suspended cabinets will have cost implication and more work for them thus they advised you to scrap the idea. By adding reinforcements behind the cabinet, your cabinet can withstand load of 100kg easily without any damage. But like what you mentioned, you have no regrets because you gained the additional storage space so not much of an issue here. It takes 2 hands to clap sometime.
