Recommended Posts

Hi,

What to look out for when purchasing washing machine? There is top load and front load. Brand wise is it an issue?

Thanks

Hi there,

I'm not an expert in WM. But here are some of the things I look out for when choosing one:

1) How many Kg load? Depends on family size and your needs.

2) Top load or front load?

I think front load uses less water but more electricity. Top load uses more water but can be energy-saving. I didnt buy front load cos there is a rubber thingy at the door and you have to dry it after use, if not the rubber will rot. But I guess you can just keep the door open to dry it naturally. Front load cannot open the door once there is water inside but top load can. The washing time for front load is much much longer. For my topload, i can finish a wash in abt 45mins time. I find it time-saving esp I tend to wash a few rounds (tend to accumulate my load :P ) Front load can have more functions and their washes might be gentler and cleaner. Some toploads can spin very fast and end up the clothes are entangled. That's why i bought a F&P wm as it has an agitator in the middle. Washes are cleaner and clothes wont entangle. There are also different spin speed for gentler washes.

3) Budget. Front load usually costs a lot more than top load.

Btw, I bought a F&P 7.5kg topload (Model: GWC12). Personally, I like the brand. heh..so i'm biased here. :D

Hope this helps!

After getting frontload Samsung WF8702, I realized that to put clothes in, have to bend back quite a lot.

Becoming irritating now...
