Anyone Ala-carte On Their Renovation?

Just curious whether had any bros here done ala carte for their renovation? Such as engaging different contractor to do different things. Example flooring and wall under contractor A and carpentry under contractor B. If yes, possible for you to share with me the contacts. Thanks. For i intend to Ala Carte for my renovation so as to save cost as my budget is tight.

Is a difficult decision for me to choose between Ala - Carte or just leave everything to a single contractor.

After some consideration, decide to do an ala carte as i am working freelance, so time arrangement for me is flexible. So decided to give it a try.

Objection is to do it with the same cost but with better workmanship and material.

My renovation for my 5A 133 sqm HDB Resale Flat. Will be getting my flat around 19 Oct. Currently doing some research.

As a comparison, i got a free Quote for my whole house renovation for about 35k.

A. S $2,550.00 - HACKING & DEMOLISH WORK

1. S $1,800.00 Labour to hack, demolish & dismantle wall tiles, floor tiles, base, W/C,basin, kitchen cabinet ****, dining, kitchen, Bath/W.C 1 & 2.

2. S $ 550.00 Haulage, debris removal services for whole house.

3. S $ 200.00 Chemical washing wall & floor tiles at whole house.

4. S $ F.O.C Laying of floor protection after completion of flooring.

5. S $ F.O.C Apply HDB permit.

B. S $9,040.00/S$9,790.00 - GENERAL WORKS

1. S $2,000.00 Supply & install (BA/NA) Alum. Casement window(140sq.ft+/-) with normal glass panel for living, 3 bedrooms & kitchen(Subject to HDB approved)

Early in the week went to look for material for my house renovation. After asking my friend and searching the internet. Filter out 2 places to look for it.

First is Lian Seng Hin Trading at 568-A Balestier. The homogeneous tile there price from $2.00 to $5.00. Most of them imported from China. The service is good even i have not decide to buy from them, after selecting model, they give me some sample. Ask them for discount from the fixed price and they me give 10% from display price. There are about 10 display for restroom design at second story.

Next went to Toh Guan. This is a big place. Sale person basically bo chap. Went there and walk for almost 1 hr. The second story got lot of design ideas for u to see. A very good place for u to see what design for u to choose.

After seeing both - Get confuse what to choose - There are to many option for u to choose. It give a very good ideas of how many sample and price ($2.00 psf to $11 psf).

Still have not decide which to buy from. But will be deciding after seeing the contractor who will do the tile work coming week. This contractor who do tile work. It recommended from my friend who say his workmanship good.
