Homogeneous Tiling Quotes

Recommended Posts

Hi, there.

We need some advise here. We want to hack off our living/dining/balcony/passageway area's tiles and replace with homogeneous tiles.

Here is the ID's quotation.

To hack existing floor tiles living, dining, passageway & balcony S$800

To supply & lay 600*600mm homogeneous / ceramic floor tiles for living, dining, passageway & balcony c/w skirting (max 2.8 psf tiles) S$4100

To supply & apply water proofing membrane for living, dining, passageway, balcony (+ 2 toilets) S$450

Living/dining/balcony/passageway is about 503 square feet.

Anyone know is this quote too high or is acceptable? Is the tiles of good quality?

Please help.

Tiles itself will cost u max.$1410, the rest is for labour to lay tiles, sand, cement, bonding agent(don't know they got buy not?) ard $1700 or less, the rest should be profit.

To supply & apply water proofing membrane for living, dining, passageway, balcony (+ 2 toilets) S$450

$200

Living/dining/balcony/passageway is about 503 square feet.

Hi, there.

The tiles max is S$2.8 as per quote.

The haulage S$450.

What is bonding agent?

Does living room/dining area need to have water proof membrane?

Thanks for your advise and sharing.

That why I calculate to the max., the cheaper type of tiles u choose, the more he earn.

The haulage S$450.

What is bonding agent?

For better bonding (stick together) of the tiles and the cement, sand.

Does living room/dining area need to have water proof membrane?

Don't need.

Living and dinning requires applying of water proofing membrane? Why?

Besides, your tiling for 503 sf at 4.1k and max 2.8 psf tile sounds steep. 600 x 600 = 2sf = 2x2.8 = $5.6 per piece

Have you been to see or select tile? Have you consider u might select tile priced higher/lower than what has been quoted to u? 2.8 psf is consider in the low range.

Juz to share...

My contractor quote mi $5 per sqft for hacking, disposal and laying of new 600 x 600 homo tiles, as for the tile cost he let us choose ourselve at the tile shop.

So without adding the tile cost, 503sqft shld be ard $2515.

We haven't negotiate the price with our ID. We shortlised him is more his service so far and also for a total package, not just the floor, at the same time, we would like to know how they charge.

Thanks all for the ideas.

Thanks for the sharing.

Can you share your experience for the haulage cost?

Haulage 450 seem reasonable. But u need to check if one trip is not enough, who should bear the rest?

Hope you do not mind. Do you happen to know the normal rate to overlay toilet floor? How much is normal for psf?

What about hack & lay new tiles for toilet floor? Do you know the normal rate?

Is it a must to hack the toilet floor + beyond certain height of the toilet wall tiles, if change a new tiles?

Appreciate your sharing.

In general, it is about 3k per toilet to overhaul, meaning all have to go, hacking all floor and wall tiles, water proof + tiling. Take note wall tiling will be full height.

3k does not include other fitting.

Depending on the age of your house, if the previous reno has been more than 15 years it is good to change. Even if it is in good condition, the style and taste might not be your preference.
