HDB InfoWeb If you, your spouse or any of the essential occupiers listed in the application is an existing owner or ex-owner of a flat bought directly from HDB, a DBSS flat from the developers, or a resale flat bought under the CPF Housing Grant Scheme, you may apply to buy a DBSS flat on condition that a 5-year period (excluding any period of subletting of the whole flat) has lapsed from the *date of taking possession of the flat to the date of application for a DBSS flat. You mis-read that. You can only book a new flat after satisfying the 5-Year MOP (Minimum Occupation Period). It is not allowed in singapore for a person to own 2 HDB flats. I don't think you will be able to purchase a DBSS unless you satisfy a whole load of requirements, one of which is the Ownership / Interest in Property Ownership / Interest in Property You, your spouse, any occupiers listed in the Application Form or their spouses must not own or dispose any other flat, house, building or land* or have an estate or interest at any time within 30 months before the date of application, or between the date of the application and the date of taking possession of the DBSS flat. * includes but is not limited to HUDC flats (whether privatized or not), properties acquired by gift, properties inherited as beneficiaries under a will or as a result of the Intestate Succession Act, private properties, commercial properties and industrial properties, as well as properties owned / acquired / disposed through nominees regardless of whether any of these properties are located in Singapore or overseas. eipsy 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2009 how to explain these two clause: 1.Second-Timer applicants You or the essential family members listed in your application have owned/sold or are currently owners of : any HDB flat that was bought from HDB; or any resale flat that was bought under the CPF Housing Grant Scheme; or a DBSS flat or an EC bought from the developer; or have enjoyed other forms of housing subsidy (for example, enjoyed benefits under the Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme, privatisation of HUDC estate etc). 2.Ownership / Interest in Property You, your spouse, any occupiers listed in the Application Form or their spouses must not own or dispose any other flat, house, building or land* or have an estate or interest at any time within 30 months before the date of application, or between the date of the application and the date of taking possession of the DBSS flat. how to apply and becom second-timer applicant when i still staying at my current flat.. do i hav to sell current flat and wait 30mths before i can apply or buy another flat? which means homeless for more than 30+mths or even more years becoz DBSS need another 3-4years to built after selection.. pls advice.. confused?????? or any1 can giv example of currently owning a new flat n will change flat after 5years.. buying new HDB flat or DBSS but can still stay at current flat n complete the selling n buying around the same time.. best is buying 2nd flat complete first n after reno n shifted then sell the 1st flat.. CAN?? Essentially that is what it means. "You, your spouse, any occupiers listed in the Application Form or their spouses must not own or dispose any other flat, house, building or land* or have an estate or interest at any time within 30 months before the date of application, or between the date of the application and the date of taking possession of the DBSS flat." We believe that these policies are put in check to prevent people from hoarding the HDB units when there could potentially be other people who might be in need of a HDB unit for their stay. Likewise, you should direct your question to the relevant HDB authorities. At the same time, policies can change, hence should you be overly concerned now? In the case that you have taken the CPF grant, then you should ask this question again when your 5 Years MOP is up.
