~notre Maison à La Fernvale Court~

i read in renotalk DIY column for after reno cleaning

-use a feather duster to sweep the floor first

-then vacuum up the dust

-mop the floor

according to MaCe, only need 2 times for this method Vs 8 times of cleaning and mopping.

another thing to note: since our area is new neighbourhood, dun open so many window panels. Cos there will reno works going on everyday in the area. When you have wind in your unit, you get dust too..lolx

share your photos in return for me to tell you this tips ;)

Furniture from Cellini was delivered. Wow :dribble: , love the white sofa and the bedframe. Not thinking of the maintenance at the moment! I sure love the look of the white sofa with our red wall. After we got the red paint, I actually had second thoughts. Wondered if it would be too loud... but with the white sofa, black tinted mirrors, the colours look balance and blend it rather nicely. :good:

Before the furniture, the grantite top supplier came to complete the kitchen. Hmm, I must say that it was less of a wow factor for me compared to the furniture. It could be the lighting as the silvery bits from the top needs to reflect light for it to sparkle.

Some hiccups for the day. The faucet for the sink was LEAKING! :curse: Therewere also missing screws for our mirror cabinet for the toilet.

Cleaning proves to be a tedious task. The house is forever dusty despite our tireless efforts. THe floor feels powdery on the feet. THe window panes are layered with a blanket of dust. I wonder how long more will the cleaning have to go on!

On the brighter side, this saturday the delivery for the furniture would be completed. I can't wait for it!

Hi Tuababy,

Just happened to see your kitchen. Very nice !

If you don't mind me asking, is the granite top from another company please? I was at classic asking for quotations and was asking for granite top as well. The total cost came out slightly over my budget. However, I forgot to ask them if it is possible not to get the top from them but from another party. Hopefully can cut down on the total cost.

HI Shanbis, yes the granite top is from another company. Classic should be ok with you not getting the granite top from them. However it is definitely more convenient if you get from them.

No problem! The sealer can seal any gap for skirting, etc - less chance for ants to hide inside. (There are different colour sealer if Im not mistaken)

Yah man! There are so many holes here and there. Then comes the silicon sealer - the saviour! Our contractor was patching all the holes/ gaps along the skirtings today. Almost all the different people doing our flat reno uses it - the granite top man, the carpenter, the plumber, the contractor etc. It's really very useful!

eh where is Fernvale Grove? hahaah i still very suaku abt this area.

mine is the dark dark orangey blocks which have lights on the top at night.

403series there.

i realised ur sliding mirror doors sama sama as mine.

me also doing tinted mirror sliding doors for the master room.

but can i ask if urs will come with any frame?

my contractor just stick the mirror onto the wooden plank.

he said very sturdy one. but i still scared lei.

im hoping mine will finish by next week. then we can visit each other liao! :D

Oh, Fernvale Grove comprises the 436 and 437 blocks. It's next to the LRT station. I see you're from 403 that side! :) My side is Fernvale Court, comprising the 438 and 439 blocks.

Our sliding mirror door has an aluminum frame around it, so it's very sturdy and stable. I think if your contractor did his job and fabricated the door well, it is surely strong, so don't worry! :D

Fernvale Lane? Does that means your block is at Fernvale Grove?

The renovations should be completed by end of this week. :D

Tuababy, your painting works look good. Just like to share a small tip with you, you can use those white sealer tube to pipe one straight white line on the top of the skirting area to give a better impression. That's just what we did for our house painting.

The kitchen went through a lot of HIGHs and LOWs... the original design was with an island but in the end had to save the island concept for a future home with a bigger kitchen! Tuababy take note! :deal:

Painting is almost 90% done. Ya, I painted the feature wall in the living and also the one in the bedroom with of course my Tuababy helping me when he is free from all the coordinating. Very tiring, but a great sense of satisfaction. Now I need to think about how to dress up the wall so that it looks good.

We went over to Ikea for ideas over on Friday and I got an idea for my vertical garden. Now I will have to start looking for herbs and spices which I can grow to use for my cooking.

The house or rather our home is coming up nicely.. Which the days would just fast forward...

And here's some preliminary photos of the feature walls painted mainly by my BB... :)

Master Bedroom:

As you can see, it's all very bare now.
