ossify 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 (edited) Hi, ossify: You are the most professional one. Would you share how to choose solid-top for kitchen cabinet? which brand and price range? I hear acrylic is better, is that true? Thank you. Different brands come at different prices and designs. So, the main thing is to see which one you are most comfortable with. Acrylic is indeed better than polyester, but more costly. I would always recommend acrylic unless you are on a budget. I would advise to go for the one you like most, based on aesthetics and texture. You work as contractor now? that is cool. Thanks for the support I am also using a portable one from Taiyo... bought 3 years ago for $89 at Fairprice, near Khatib MRT station. Mickey M 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2010 ya, cut to shape and put on top of existing tiles. i already bought the 2nd one Bilian aka ironwood aka borneo ironwood. To be showcased in early August Are they water-resistant? Despite being a hard worker (I think I am, ha), I wanted to do something similar previously but the maintenance is not something I can accept. Imagine your fallen hairs 'stuck' btw the wood tiles. But aesthetically, I think it looks not bad.

Boxer 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2010 Ossify, I work in shipbuilding. Balau wood is chosen for it's strength and versality. Yes it is water resistant but it will still decay albeit slowly. Just for your information. Also I read that it stains quite badly if varnish is inadequate. Do you have any experience with Chengai wood?

Yes it's true that water ponding will cause damage to any natural wood It should suffice for my bathroom. I got Belian wood, not Balau or Chengai.
