Well, lighter tone means you can see the dirt easier, so it's easier to know when it's clean or dirty if you don't maintain your home often, go for darker colours if you have a i-robot vacuum cleaner like me, go for lighter colours the following is a list of steps on how to clean your laminate flooring Instructions Things You'll Need: * Alcohol or nail polish remover * Rag * Pencil with eraser * Melamine foam sponge * WD-40 * Toothpaste * Rubber-soled shoe * Telephone 1. Step 1 Use alcohol or nail polish remover. Make sure the nail polish remover has acetone in it. Splash a small amount of either alcohol or polish remover on a rag, and scrub the mark clean. 2. Step 2 Try a pencil eraser. Use any old pencil eraser which is not colored to erase the furniture markings. 3. Step 3 Try a melamine foam sponge such as Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. Dampen the sponge, and scrub the scuff mark away. This "magical" sponge is known to get into the crevices of surfaces that typical sponges and rags never reach. 4. Step 4 Try using WD-40. Spray a little WD-40 on a rag, and scrub the scuff mark. Do not saturate the rag, and make sure to clean any remaining oil off the floor afterward. 5. Step 5 Try scrubbing the mark with toothpaste. Squeeze a small dollop of toothpaste onto a rag. Wet the rag slightly, and scrub the toothpaste directly onto the scuff marks. After removing the marks, clean up the remaining toothpaste using a fresh damp rag. 6. Step 6 Try using a rubber-soled shoe. Take the sole of a tennis shoe, and press the rubber bottom on the scuff mark back and forth until the mark is gone. This process might require pressing quite firmly. 7. Step 7 Contact the manufacturer for a cleaner specific to its product. Manufacturers often recommend specific products that either they sell or you can purchase at most local stores. In addition they can inform you about products you should avoid using based on the laminate floors' construction and materials.
