ossify 1 Report post Posted January 7, 2010 Hi Ossify, do you know the colour of the oil sealer, i am not sure if my contractor is going to put the base coat for me... white lah You try put a drop of water on your wall and see if it beads up. If it does, you have oil sealer If not, means no oil sealer.
ossify 1 Report post Posted January 7, 2010 Hi ossify, just want to ask, your hacking finished and cleared on the 3rd day. but your 2nd contractor continued with hacking of kitchen floor tiles after that as per your post on day 5? what about wall tiles? a bit confused as to who is actually doing the hacking...1st or 2nd contractor... thought hdb only limit hacking to 3 days? Er.. actually, I should have just let my 1st contractor hack everything But I'm newbie so I only let the 1st contractor hack the walls. HDB actually gave me 5 days to hack, but 1st contractor finished within 2 days. 3rd day was because forgot to hack one part. Anyway, my floor and wall tiles were not really hacked. They were chipped off.

ossify 1 Report post Posted January 7, 2010 Day 24 1 man came today, finished kitchen floor tiles, electrician continued to do trunking Overview of the house at night This is how you lay tiles in a straight line, see the string? (taken at noon) Close up of the stainless steel floortrap (good cut) My kitchen is almost done by end of day My bathroom is almost done too, hole made in tile for concealed shower lever Total cost for the day's work: $100 Hacking 50ft walls and clearing of debris: $1000 Accumulated cost for labour: $4800 (including clearing of debris) Accumulated cost for raw materials: $2340.21 Total reno bill as of now: $8140.21 Was a bit stretched on the number of tiles for kitchen floor, I didn't order enough Had to use my toilet's wall tile as skirting for one side of my kitchen (good thing it will be covered by fridge and cabinets ) Also found out that the worker who was doing painting actually already used up 2 cans of my Nippon odourless all-in-one paint to paint already! I misunderstood him Getting him back to paint the rest, but forsee need to buy more paint. He paints very well but my walls very paint thirsty. Actually feel that he's a bit costly, but I think it's worth it. Tomorrow should finish up all the tiling works already. Told my workers about this blog and the 300 daily visitors, hope they are more motivated
ossify 1 Report post Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) Day 24 (Electrical) I will be posting electrical works separately as I have too many pics to share Apparently the electrician thinks I should have let him do first before calling the aircon people to run trunking. I wonder if the aircon trunking people would say that I should let them run trunking first. But what's done is done and this is how I did it So kudos to my electrician for being able to think of creative solutions even though he keeps complaining about the extra work Entrance of trunking into my house from outside the house, leading into and out of Distribution Box (DB) Trunking running along the dropdown between kitchen and living room (my dining area) into the MBR Trunking above my MBR new wall, leading to the aircon compressor, bathroom and kitchen Trunking above my MBR beam, leading to MBR fan and living room (former bedroom 2) PVC pipe peeking out of my MBR into the living room (former bedroom 2) Electrical costs: $2000 (not including switches/faceplates) for 10 lights, 5 ceiling fans, 1 db box, 1 scv, 2 internet rj45, 2 phone rj22, 1 aircon 20A single phase regulator, 6 double socket 13A, 1 3-gang (concealed), 4 2-gang (2 concealed), 1 1-gang, 2 heater (1 concealed) Edited January 7, 2010 by ossify

I think you better talk to the Electrical man to give more discount... cannot be so expensive... oh ya... mine already been thru contractor to do the job.. so maybe the actual fee only $1000 for the workmanship.
