ossify 1 Report post Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) Day 21 2 men came today, additional waterproofing, continued tiling, painting oil sealer, aircon people (3 of them) came to lay trunking Overview of the house at noon Additional waterproofing at edges after tiling done Tiling in common toilet (blue separator tiles between WC area and basin area) Tiles at WC area are the ones provided by HDB during the upgrading works done 2 yrs ago Tiles near common toilet's entrance Tiles on other side of common toilet's entrance Total cost for the day's work: $200 Hacking 50ft walls and clearing of debris: $1000 Accumulated cost for labour: $4300 (including clearing of debris) Accumulated cost for raw materials: $2340.21 Total reno bill as of now: $7640.21 Natural Cool aircon trunking people supposed to come at 12noon, called me yesterday to ask for delay till 1pm, i asked them to come at 12.30pm. Today they came late at about 1.20pm, rather disappointed. Discussed on trunking position for about 30min, rather pleased with end result. But sadly, they broke one of my tile, good thing it is not very obvious. Another tile was also slightly bent, although even less obvious. Reason why my tile broke was because they used concrete drill bit instead of tile drill bit. Guest Goobii Report post Posted January 4, 2010 Bro ... trunking @ top no good leh.. water flow if not properly done will cause leakage or when condense can see water droplets.. this happens to my old house that is why mine is fix from high end to low end but above my skirting... .. Bed also not to be under it... fengshui no good also... Anyway since already done... no choice.. hope you got no problem with the trunking later stage. Make sure your water drainage is maintained and suck out the dirty water whenever you service the 3 aircon...

Anyway I can't do what you did (your picture below) because I am not getting built in wardrobe. I am also not custom making my bed/side tables to hide the trunking like what you did. I think my method is the best for my place already.. Anyway, my installers are from Natural Cool, they have high standards They used insulation foam to wrap the drainage piping. If any leakage, I call them to fix it Anyway, I don't intend to do skirting, so no low trunking for me. How often should I service the aircon? I was a bit shocked that you use cloth to prevent cool air from escaping your MBR too Edited January 4, 2010 by ossify

I was a bit shocked that you use cloth to prevent cool air from escaping your MBR too My aircon is the 12000BTU for master / 9000BTU for smaller room and the curtain is to reduce the cold air from escaping. The purpose of using 12000BTU is because not having any doors but just 1 curtain and those colour strips, even if I don't turn on the 9000BTU the aircon from my master room without the curtain is capable to cool both the room. The main door is the GLASS panel. The concept is just like those cold storage FREEZER room and normal cold room. We almost wanted to get the AIR curtain just like those shopping centre but the price of it and the electrical bill we calculated is not worth to get it... hope to see your final setup.... That will be your HOME SWEET HOME ~! Servicing of aircon I would recommend you to do it every 3 or 4mth... Edited January 4, 2010 by Goobii

ossify 1 Report post Posted January 5, 2010 Day 22 2 men came today, continued with tiling and painting oil sealer, electrician came to do detailed measurements Overview of the house in the evening Side of living room (previous bedroom 2) beside MBR, base coat of sealer up Side of living room (previous bedroom 2) with window, base coat of sealer up Overview of MBR bathroom Toilet floor tiles Total cost for the day's work: $200 Hacking 50ft walls and clearing of debris: $1000 Accumulated cost for labour: $4500 (including clearing of debris) Accumulated cost for raw materials: $2340.21 Total reno bill as of now: $7840.21 Electrician/plumber and my tiler was discussing about tile cutting. Apparently my electrician/plumber has never heard of a tile drill bit before, rather disappointing. Together they cut some holes in my tile+wall, looks pretty decent. I think my tiler is a lot better at drilling holes in tiles than the electrician/plumber.

They can cut decen tstraight lines without using a pencil/ruler to draw the line first.
