cannotisit 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 hi, i just finished painting my walls, below are some of my experience... if it's not plaster, it's good idea to plaster the wall before painting, makes painting a lot easier. also must apply sealer first before the actual paint or else paint may peel. there's 2 type of sealer, water & oil based. water based: more for living rm & bedroom cellings and walls oil based: best for kitchen or toilet cellings suppose to last longer. i choose nippon 5L water based sealer (ard $26), i heard from my contractor got another brand of water based sealer 20L ard $40 plus starts with 'M'

ossify 1 Report post Posted August 8, 2009 But the savings is alot Think most probably I'm going to paint it myself or ask some foreign workers to paint for me. hi, if you find a good foreign worker to do it, pm me the contact anyway, i would be getting oil sealant for my whole place. then 3 coats of washable paint. will probably get the odourless range from nippon. buy everything yourself and paint = ~$400 hire a foreign worker = add $50 a day ask contractor to do = 1200 (don't know if they will cut corners) i DIY at 1/3 the price and have peace of mind

hawthorne 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2009 For painting a new coat of white paint over a previous white wall is the more problematic part. (e.g. ceiling) Last time when I painted my house, I cannot tell where I have stopped, or which part I have not painted yet. Luckily, there is a new product (i think by nippon) that the paint will be pink when wet and it will turn white when it has dried. Maybe u can check out this product. Should make your DIY painting life a little easier
