mrspiglet 2 Report post Posted November 30, 2008 Hi everyone, i'm new here.. very 1st post. Just bought my resale 4A n having headache over the very tight budget we have. For those who have been with GPlan, will they even entertain my budget of 20k (i'm retaining all flooring except MBR toilet)? Can anyone share Kelvin or Gordon's contact? pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2008 Will la. retain all floor should be ok what. hahah I ever approach them with a 10k budget before. obviously their quotation exceed la. but not very much. and they were still very polite and obliging
ahockz 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2008 mrspiglet, actually flooring is one of the killer in RENO, next will be carpentry. with flooring out, your cost will only be half of what other intend to do. anyway, can jus ask all the reno to compare the prices first, at least this way u will know roughly what will be the cost. mrspiglet 2 Report post Posted December 1, 2008 Thks pinkpetter, ahockz! Anyone has their contact? i would prefer to speak to the ID straight rather than trying out my luck by just popping by the shop. ahhockz: i thought so too, with flooring out, it shd be cheaper. But surprisingly 3 ID firms quoted me ard 25k-27k excluding plastering!! Here's the major list of items i'm doing, can advise if my budget is reasonable? - Hack entire kitchen cabinet and built new cabinets (floor and wall tiles to remain) - To 'close' up the kitchen. Currently open concept but i'm gonna aircon the living room - Master toilet everything to change, floor n tiles inclusive. - 1 built-in wardrobe (est. 12ft) - Plastering of walls (whole unit) and repainting - Half height false wall + tv console. Probably false ceiling/L-box. - Change main gate and window grills in living room+1 bedroom i suppose the major one is the kitchen.
ahockz 1 Report post Posted December 1, 2008 hmm maybe u wan to checkout some items that u might find yourself. such as -> main gates, Windows grill, door, carpentry work so that u roughly know how much they gain for comission.
mrspiglet 2 Report post Posted December 1, 2008 (edited) hee! i did my homework on those. Called up a few, so i know the main gate n window grill pricing. Anyone here staying in top floor? One of the ID told me he's gonna revise the charge after knowing my unit is the top floor and ceiling is higher. Edited December 3, 2008 by mrspiglet
dez 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2008 Hi All, My first posting after being a spectator for pass 1 yr. Looking at recent posts, think it is time for me to contribute some views. I’m currently a client of G-plan, renovation is completed except for some minor touch-up work. My ID should be handling over to me next week or so. Guess that I’m lucky to meet my ID when I walked in to G-plan 3 months ago. Very satisfied with his work and the things he had done for us, especially his initiative to redo unsatisfactory work even without telling him. Really very responsible and trustworthy. There are bound to have black sheep everywhere we go really. Have to be extra careful, there were a few articles on cavet emptor last month in the Straits Time which really act as a good reminder. Agree with Ben3555 that the most impt part is the ID, not the company. A company success or failure is dependent on its employee, not the other way round. If I’m not wrong, most of them are not paid basis salary as they are on commission basis. Can anyone confirm this? I will post some pictures of my reno once my curtains are up next week. My theme is more to clean line, contemporary and clutter-free. My ID is Gary, very friendly and constructive so as to say because he did not simply obliged to our reno ideas but give advises and discuss with us. Mrspiglet, 20K should be enuff if you are not touching the floor but guess it will really depends on how big is your kitchen and the amount of carpentry involve. I did mine for about 20+ K, same as you, all floorings un-touch but mine is a new flat at fernvale la so no demolition cost. Cheers!
mrspiglet 2 Report post Posted December 3, 2008 my kitchen is not big.. not as big as my current kitchen at least. Dunno y i've been quoted so high by other ID firm also...
troxxy 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2008 (edited) Hello everyone We had been looking for an ID to design our upcoming 5rm flat (108 square metres) in THE PREMIERE, the first DBSS HDB housing. We had went to several IDs, and we shortlisted A & D (ID - Johnny) and Gplan (Max Yu). Both of them are really creative, being punctual for our meeting sessions, and their proposal are quite detailed, we felt both are secured to hand over our house to them. We had a hard time choosing between them. Awhile ago, which was our 3rd meeting up session with Max, he is someone who is able to enhance our ideas and suit us more with his layout of his floor plan design and lightings, so we decided to sign with him. Soon i will be setting up a T-Blog, along with the posting of the progression. Total Damage - 27k without hacking our flooring, renovations of toilets and kitchen. starschaser 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2008 (edited) Just want to compliment Kelvin for his exceptional service. We're his ex-client and have moved in to our new place about a year ago. Recently we encountered some problems and needed to do some touch ups. Kelvin promptly asked his men over to help us out. We didn't expect such good after-sales service even after one year. There are bound to have some black sheep around, be it G-Plan or other companies, but let's not overlook those really good IDs who have put in their efforts to service their clients. Gek 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2008 Hi, I'm new to the forum and will be renovating my resale 3-rm flat soon. I went to Gplan and a guy by the name of Keave attended to me. He prepared a quote for me, almost $35,000 which I thought was rather on the high side. Would appreciate anybody who has worked with him, please provide your comments or feedback. Thanks!
