spearhawk 1 Report post Posted July 13, 2009 Hi all, For the kitchen cabinet top, typically I see that people are using solid top, laminate, granite, etc... But I have seen people using tiles to lay on the kitchen cabinet top before. Any idea how does this work? Do they lay a concrete cement top, and then lay tiles over it? Something like the stove support? Any idea how much they cost per feet run? Thanks! =)

During my flat hunting, I had seen kitchen top with tiles and many of them has problem in the sink area. For lots of them, the wood has rotted and the sink were sagging and tiles popping up due to that.

trees 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2009 any idea how much they charge then? Is it cheaper than using solid top, laminate, granite, etc...? last time alot ppl using suchway , by laying solid plywood top, then put glue to stick tiles on top..not lasting as water will go in.. not cheap leh..think you better consider solid/granite top
LittleDevil 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2009 My main concern with using tiles as kitchen counter top is that it is extremely difficult to clean the grout i.e. gaps betwen the tiles. With all the cooking and washing, the grout will eventually accumulate dirts and moulds that is impossible to remove. My parents used to have those in the past.
