Which area are you staying? How come got ghost? Why don't you record the noise the next time you hear it. Then you can use it as an evidence.
googocat 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 This made me recall one of the Sunday 3 weeks ago where me and my hubby were hamming and drilling away at night at my new place, trying to rush to finish up the loose ends at my new house. With every hammering and drilling, i so scare that my neighbours will complain. Fortunately no police officer came knocking and i definitely finished all my hammering and drilling before 11 pm. But i think the part abt no one being found at the house sounds spooky. Well, i suggest to eliminate your doubts, go upstairs tonight and check things out yourself. Maybe they are really hiding inside the house rushing to complete the work.
charemme 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 (edited) Which area are you staying? How come got ghost? Why don't you record the noise the next time you hear it. Then you can use it as an evidence. Im at Tampines St 41 block 405. Confirm the police officer who handle my call , heard it... cuz they ask me to describe. I ask them to hear for themselves. Im certain there is nothing spooky... the contractor is hiding and doing the work from 930pm to 12am+ Im going up tonight to take alook. If there is noise again tonight, who else can i Complaint? I know its not the owners fault, but definitely the contractor is doing something major in the bathroom cuz its so loud, even my ceiling paint is flaking off. Anyone here renovating their Unit at Tampines block 405??? Edited July 7, 2009 by charemme

adrian_john 1 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 (edited) Charemme, Interesting story about noises in the night. But like you said, I'm sure its the Contractor playing hide-and-seek with both you and the cops. Apart from the cops (although personally I don't think they do or bother much about such cases anyways), do also pop by your HDB Area Office and notify them too. I don't think any heavy work is allowed at such late timing and on Sundays. BTW, cute Schnauzer in your siggy. Edited July 7, 2009 by adrian_john
charemme 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 I just call HDB branch Office. They check and told me the unit upstairs confirm is not vacant. They will send someone down to check... The HDB officer say noise travels.. so might not be e unit above making noise.. but if its 2 level up.. even my ceiling wall paint flake off.. also too power liao!! Amazing, the police officer check with the upstairs neighbour ask if they heard noise.. they said no

Yeah, its really amazing how they get away with it... i can hear noise from Unit #2 loud n clear. Yet occupants from Unit #1 say cannot hear. its so freaking loud.. both my dogs are guarding my bathroom door staring at the ceiling.. Sad to say, if its at my Kitchen area.. perhaps i can ignore. But the reno area is within my MBR... go home after 1 hard day of work, also cannot rest... by the time they stop.. my migraine start

charemme 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 I believe its the contractor trying to rush their HO hence the late work. I wonder, if i complaint like this... will the owner get into trouble??
adrian_john 1 Report post Posted July 7, 2009 Charemme, If you highlight the issue to HDB, its not so much the owner that will get into trouble, but I believe they'll go after the Contractor who applied for the permit first. I guess since the cops can't help, this would be the next best alternative, if the late night rush work continues to be a disturbance. The owner is probably not even aware of what the contractor's doing anyway. On to dogs, wow, didn't know you had 2 doggies. Are they both Schnauzers? I have a very mini one. She's already 5 years old but still sized like a puppy.
