Marcussy 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2009 Oh I thought my tiling is quite ok? But I agree the painting is expensiv, so that's why trying to source for a separate painting contractor. Are you looking for a contractor also?

Are you looking for a contractor also? well, probably it has to do with your area size which I'm not 100% sure for that pricing yea, still looking, on numbered 11th already and should be done after 2 more. Already narrowing down on 2-3 already

Hence some items are cheap, but others are still okie..... When you do more things, they are able to give more discounts. I revamping whole house, and doing lots of carpentry, but I only look for 4-5. lolz. does it actually help looking for so many quotes? sometimes cheap cheap quotes have many hidden costs, or might mean poor workmanship , imo. of cos expensive ones also have their cons. Just a matter of luck. how much are you setting aside or reno?

Just a matter of luck. how much are you setting aside or reno? we're trying to work out a comfortable sum without borrowing too much, likely to be around 10+k because we do not do carpentry (except bottom cabinet) and no floor tiles to hack (except kitchen), probably no cornices, no rewiring.... just basics... Marcussy 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2009 My budget is under $10k including the paint job. I think there are many contractors out there, some may be cheaper than others. But I prefer to get someone who is being referred because workmanship is also very important. And the flat is going to stay with you for many years, so get one who has favourable feedback will be priority. Price will be the next thing to consider, I will only consider those below average prices. Merryman, if you need further quote (which I don't think you still want right...haha) can pm me, i can refer my contractor to u.

I'm meeting my 12th and maybe 13th tmr evening, think I have enough, thank you wow, below $10k?! tempting but I should let it be... my apt is probably in a more original state than yours is
Marcussy 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2009 Cos my new house is in quite a good state now, so dun need to do much reno. $10k is more than enough to do 2 toilets & kitchen, but if do whole house I think at least $15-20k. Hope you are not too confused by all the quotes. Sometimes, just go with your heart, see which contractor u feel most comfortable, unless pricing really a big difference.
