wally168 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2009 Hi all, I just wanted to tap on anyone's past experience regarding the possibility of bringing in imported washing machines / refrigerators from Europe say for e.g. washing machines, ovens, refrigerators etc...and using them in Singapore? Given that some European countries use a different plug head, is there anyway to change it or use an attachment to make it suitable for local use? I'm not an electrician but what should I be looking out for in evaluating whether it is suitable? Appreciate any help on this. Thanks. Cheers

Cheers Dear wally, (I am saving up for one of your boats or do I have the right wally? Do you know Dilbert?) The mains in UK and Euro is 220-240v 50Hz. Same as here in Spore. So, should be no problem. Just change the plugs. If unsure to do this DIY, engage a qualified electrician. He will be trained and knows when to switch the power on with a broomstick just in case. This opinionated advice is valid for equipment for personal use. If it is for a commercial venture, then you should know better... Some of the electronics are surprisingly cheaper here in Europe compared to Singapore (this in spite of us locals telling visitors that Singapore is a paradise for electronics ) Cheers
