ryan08 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 my house is undergoing renovation and my id has given me a quote for electric work. he told me each light i want to have is considered as a lighting point and he is charging 30 dollars for each of them i.e i have 30 downlights, does that mean that i have to pay 900 dollars for them to set up 30 lighting points? what if i have say 4 lights controlled by one switch(is this called looping?), shouldn't that be considered as 1 lighting point and not 4? likewise for T5. i have a feeling he is trying to con me. can some experience bro out there please advice a newbie like me? thanks a million. Cloyn 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 He's right, one light point is one light. If you have 20 lights in your living room, that's 20 lighting points, still have to wire them up individually even if you one switch control 20 lights. Can try to ask for discount since you got so many?

Cos I not sure who should be in-charge of installing? The electrician or the people you buy lights from? Thanks! Edited July 19, 2009 by spearhawk
Arul Yanakan 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2009 For T5, if you have 10, all you need is actually just 1 lighting point. You can then just join the adjoining ones by yourself, as it is just a matter of joining all of them in a straight line. If you look at the T5 lights that you bought, you will know what I mean as each of them can just snap into each other. The electrician will charge you $30 for this. You can save a lot by doing this yourself after they lay the first point.
