btzqabc 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2009 I have seen a lot of water purifiers around for drinking but they are really expensive and very complicated. Does anyone know if there is a simple small filter that is like the Hyflux eLife eS-7 Shower Filter ($169) (http://www.hyflux.com/User%27s_Guides_%20&_Manuals/eLife/eS-7%20Shower%20Instruction%20Guide_280806.pdf)? By the way, I know this is for showering but is water from this filter safe for consumption? Thanks!

I've used that before for my showers and I put up a review of it last time, it could have been much better.... Shower filters Seriously, you should get a proper one for your tap, this one is strictly for shower .. Some brands you can consider is CLEANSUI or Instapur, it attaches itself directly to your tap. Ranges from $70 to $200, depending on model. http://btbtrading.com/ http://www.instapure.com/

little_sunshine 1 Report post Posted July 3, 2009 well the thing is I want it to be hidden away from sight..preferably under the sink. But those systems under the sink can cost up to 1k which is too expensive... If you get one for whole house, you still have the pipes between the filter and your tap that can add rust or other things to the water. The water filter should be a point of use one to have the best effect, i.e. filter at the point where you draw the water at the tap. When I evaluated my filter, I looked what sort of filter can give me good drinking water. I defined what are the criteria of good drinking water and then looked at what technology can fulfil the criteria. Last of all, I looked at what certifcations does the filter have. I found that the most important certification for water purifier is NSF, which WHO adopted as their standard. Hope this is helpful.
