Guest melancholic Report post Posted July 31, 2009 hi melancholic, may i have your false ceiling contractor's contact? i got an existing false ceiling with 14 holes (existing spotlights) which i needed patched and reopen to fit new spotlight fixtures. i realised spotlight fixtures these day are much smaller than the old type (about 5yrs old). many thanks! Hi santav, i'll PM you. But you might want to check with your electrician if he can patch it up for you as well. Most electricians can do such simple patch-ups (i.e. they don't have to install the structure for the false ceilings).

Guest melancholic Report post Posted August 3, 2009 Hi melancholic, Could you PM me the contacts too? PMed you already. Hi melancholic Can I have the contact pls? May I know if this contractor help to fix up all the lightings or do i have to engage a electrician? Thanks. PMed you already. As mentioned to you, he only does false ceilings. You need to find your own electrician. But no harm asking if he has any electricians he work with. After all, in this trade, that's how people survive, by supporting one another, so I'm sure he should know someone.

qus 1 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Melancholic. Can you PM me the contractor's contact number. Thanks I went to get a quote for my false ceiling with a L box light holder along one side of the wall. Area is 7.45 m x 5.30 m. L box is along the 5.30 m wall. False ceiling $1150 L box $300 Lighting points @ $45 per point Fan point @ $50 And a strange to me is $600 for workmen salary. Is this normal? I am only doing the ceiling and no other reno works. From my calculation.. and based on what I got from my false ceiling contractor, the false ceiling should be no more than $900, and the L-box no more than $120. Lighting point, depends on whether it is concealed or not. Concealed in ceiling costs more. But if the lighting point is going to be hidden inside the false ceiling, then you should be charged the non-concealed price. Fan Point is standard at $50. There is NO such thing as workmen salary. If this is the pricing you are getting from my false ceiling contractor, tell him his pricing is way beyond what I had been quoted. And if no change, then tell him to forget it and update us in this forum so I'll stop recommending him.
