Dl Sweetie Love Cocoon

Recommended Posts

Have the idea of getting a condo since 2005, but didn't make it happened, and suddenly the price shot rocket high that condo dream is no longer affordable... :bangwall:

After the financial crisis, property price slide, and our condo dream came back again... We decided to shop for our love cocoon in Dec 2008, and had since browsed through property websites and viewed some of the resale units... Having a new condo and being a first owner is always my dream... hence, decided to buy a new condo instead of resale...

Our deal striked just after first view of the show house on 31 Jan 2009... impulsive though, but this is the area we like, i.e. get out of the crowd... price of $670psf might still be a bit high, but we signed on the dotted line without much ado... We want something that we do not need to wait long, and ready to move in after reno... :dancingqueen:

Got the key on 27 Mar 2009, feel so "real" that we finally can have our dream nest... no longer need to go to public pool as we have our swimming pool now... our resort style living :thumbs up:

Next is to think of what we want for our love cocoon. We do not intend to spend a lot of money on reno as we already have the basic fixture included in the original condition. We want a big master bedroom, and that was the reason we bought a unit with adjacent rooms so that we can hack away the wall and make it a bigger room. We also want platform bed in the master bedroom, as that will make it very cozy :)

Spending two weeks reading renotalk forum, to have some reno ideas, recommendation and experience of forummers. Got quotation from 4 IDs, and finally sealed our deal with tau design, as recommended in forum, on 2 May 2009.

This is the amended floor plan with joining wall and wardrobe hacked. Also with the MBR door and bathroom door change to sliding panel, it makes the room and bathroom look more spacious... I like space :D

So, these need to be hacked away, i.e. the wall between BR2/MBR, and the wardrobe in BR2... wasted as the wardrobe is brand new, but can't help :dunno:

Thanks, i love renotalk... got a lot of insight info here :P

Yeah, no block from living and mbr. Even though the hdb flat is just across the road, which is just infront of my study room, but because mine is on high floor, so practically no block. The study room (with small window though) is actually facing city. I think we might be able to see fireworks from the study room

You are right that we need minimal reno, and we tried hard to keep it below 30k (incl of lightings). The biggest makeover is the master bedroom.

Bingo ;)

Can I visit your place when your renovation is up? I like to steal some idea, as well as witnessing Tau Design workmanship.

hi pinklady and angel,

thanks, indeed the original condition of condo is very nice alrdy, hence, we do not intend to spend a lot of $$ on reno.

my original quotation is 23k... even if incl lighting and wiring (depends on number of light points), it shld still below 30k

as usual, the biggest spending is on carpentry.

will post more photo after tidying up :)

Week 1 (4 May 09) - while waiting for PE inspection and management approval, they laid protection sheet, so that can start hacking once approval granted.

Week 2 (11 May 09) - Hack wall, remove door frame and dismantle wardrobe... to make way for big MBR

That's it, my wardrobe is gone
