Interesting! Will follow this thread...

Btw, what kind of furnitures are you planning to custom make. Must be something out of the ordinary that you design yourself or replica from other designer furnitures?

Are you considering makers from Indonesia? For timber furnitures like those from Origins at Gillman Village, there are many sources in Indonesia, mainly Central Java. Balinese style resort or outdoor furnitures, where else but Bali.

You can consider Malaysian furniture makers 'cos "Shipment" is by land transport over the Causeway, so should be cheaper than sea freight.

How about local furniture makers? There should be quite a few good carpenters if you look through the right directories. I'll keep a look-out and post here as and when I come across any. Can save on shipment also.

I've been sourcing for wood furniture too, and have enquired with some shops in Singapore and Malaysia. Both of them have their factories in Indonesia, and the furniture is shipped from Indonesia.

Have just placed my orders with a shop in Malaysia, KL. The couple who runs it used to have a showroom in Singapore, but they have since relocated to KL.

Compared the prices, and it is cheaper than those which we have seen in Singapore.

Saw some pieces of furniture they have too, and seems to be of good quality.

It's so far been a good experience - went down to their place in KL as we happened to be there, agreed on the items, and they have been emailing us drawings of the furniture and dimensions. Work will only commence when we have agreed on dimensions and design; and the stock will ship from their factory in Indonesia to our doorstep in Singapore.

i'm looking at buying furniture from BKK. I've seen some catalogue (courtesy of a thai friend) and it looks nice and much cheaper.

Anyone has experience doing this?
