PLs let me know where I could negotiate with the contractor and what seems reasonable on the quotation... TIA To hack off 2 toilet wall tiles and re-tiling with ceramic tiles up to ceiling ht. $2,600.00 To hack off 2 toilet flooring and re-tiling with water proofing chemicals. $1,200.00 To hack off kitchen wall boarder tiles and re-tiling with ceramic tiles. $600.00 To hack off kitchen flooring and re-tiling with water-proofing chemicals $1,400.00 To construct kitchen sink, cabinet base, fridge base and washing machine base. $1,200.00 I dun think i've come across anyone in renotalk that construct kitchen sink. Unless you mean kitchen sink support base. But thats is a very traditional style liao. Moreover constructing those base dun need $1200 that much ba, the most $500 would be enough. Some more base nia. To install solid surface top at kitchen. $1,755.00 To change whole house copper piping with 5 hot pts. $650.00 to be on the safe side, you could change it to: To change whole house copper piping(hot and cold) with 5 hot pts. $650 To install 2 sets WC, washing basin, tank heater and accessories. $450.00 To supply 2 sets WC,washing basin, shower mixer, tank heater and accessories. $1,200.00 What brand are they using? need to check carefully although To supply kitchen sink, mixer tap, cooker hood and hop. $600.00 Are you sure your contractor supply u with all these to u. Is pedestal included too? I thought they only supply labour to install and u need to buy these yourself. Add in one more tap for your washing machine inlet. Does they only supply u with all these but i dun see any installation of kitchen sink, mixer, cooker hob. At least changes made are: To supply and install kitchen sink, mixer tap, cooker hood and hob. $600 What brand are they using? cooker hood and hop itself is already $500+? unless they are using unknown brand? To supply and install 2 sets aluminium Bi-fold door at 2 toilet. $400.00 I thought they need to dismantle the existing toilet door then install new one. But i dun see any dismantling of existing toilet door? Re-wiring work at 2 toilet and kitchen $600.00 does the power point going to be charged separately To install laminate wood cabinet at kitchen.(28ft) $4,480.00 To install laminate wood TV console **** hall. $1,200.00 To install laminate wood wardrobe with glass sliding door at m/bedroom.(14ft) $2,800.00 To install low laminate cabinet at m/bedroom. $480.00 To install laminate wood wardrobe with mirror sliding door at bedroom 1.(6.5ft) $1,300.00 To install low laminate cabinet at bedroom 1.(5ft) $400.00 To install laminate wood dressing table with mirror at bedroom 1. $200.00 To supply and install 2 sets shower screen.(Tempered glass frameless) $900.00 Haulage and clear away debris off site $500.00 Would they be using the corrugated paper to protect your tiles? How about acid wash? Why i couldn't find any plumbing work of PVC Outlet pipe for kitchen sink and washing machine? Is there any existing kitchen cabinet? If yes, dismantling of existing kitchen cabinet is needed to be added in. If not that would incur extra charges. Are u going to change your rubbish chute? Total = $24,915 + GST Also could you please advise me about the pros and cons of overlaying tiles instead of hacking and how much could be saved in the process?? Thanks again The pros and cons for overlaying tiles depend on the "current tiles condition". During my renovation we did gave overlaying a thought but gave the idea up after some consideration. 1) Condition of existing tiles - Bad and more than 20years. 2) Waterproofing - might be worn off after so many years. Comparing overlaying and hacking with tiling, overlaying is definitely much cheaper. How much cheaper depend on the contractor that quote u? Average can save 2-3K bah. For that price it is already a good bargain liao. some more the contractor already throw in all the WC, basin, kitchen sink, hood and hob, toilet accessories.
