r u having a white kitchen concept too? looks big and bright, the place.

Laminate on kitchen cabinet.

However, we were very unhappy with the kitchen cabinet. Hard to show on photograph (unless I used a tripod and not used flash) it is a white laminate with uneven grains. Turned out it looks like some decade-old white that has turned yellow.

We were not sure if it will look nice but the ID keep saying "guaranteed swee!"

We are going to have a discussion with ID and the carpenters this afternoon to see if anything can be done (eg add a piece of laminate to the doors, etc)

And fortunately we didn't take ID's advice to have whole house use the same laminate!

Hi beany0811,

Yes, the kitchen is the darkest place in the house so we wanted to have a white concept (whitish wall, white cabinets and three bright lights). However, we have picked the wrong laminate (see post above) so the cabinet now looks like some 10-year old white cabinet turning yellow because of the age.

We need to speak with ID and carpenters later to see if anything can be done.

Unhappy moments:

Despite telling the worker EXACTLY where to install the basin, he has installed it at the wrong place. This basin is too close to the wall - not only it is not aligned but we can't see the entire length of the basin (can't move to the centre of the basin because of the wall)

And some guy has used our toilet without cleaning it, yicks!

Big mess at the masterbed room:

DSC_00200020-1.jpg

Actually very unhappy with the plumber. When we tried to tell him where the things should go, he refused to listen, kept telling us that he knows. And after that things went wrong. Look like somebody with a very big ego.

ID promised handover by 14 Aug (furnitures and TV delivery coming 15 Aug). What's your planned handover date?

why can't the basin be moved because of the wall? are the pipes connected to that wall? seems off alignment - i would think u want the basin to be @ the centre of the mosiac design. agree tt should get the plumber to move it

Sorry I failed in my English. I meant to say that because the basin is on the right side of the wall, our shoulders would have prevented us from moving to the centre of the sink. As a result we want the plumber to move the sink to the left. Not only it will provide easier access it will also be nicer if we align it with the wall mosaic.

Yes, in fact it looks yellowish when we were there yesterday. Yellowish like white furniture turning yellow. Will also need to move the basin as like what you pointed out, is quite an eye sore.

Hi sohck,

I also didnt see the yellowish from the pics, prolly cause the laminate look whiter than the wall colour in the pic? Guess need to see the real stuff. Hope your ID can provide a good solution to you since she recommended this laminate to you. We're also in the midst of choosing our kitchen cabinet laminates. Kept re-thinking and re-thinking... scare make the wrong choice and have to face it for years.

About the basin, I would also insisted it to be shifted to the centre if I were you. Otherwise, the tile design behind would be spoilt. Do speak to your ID if the plumber make things difficult for you.

The scratch on the marble floor look bad. Are they going to repolish it for you again?

Hi Rasp,

The laminate looks white in the photo because of the camera flash. Need a tripod to show the real colour. But anyway will be speaking to ID at about 4pm today to see what can be done for both the laminate and the toilet sink.

After this experience I would advise you to pick a glossy solid colour laminate for your cabinet. What looks good on the small piece of sample on the catalogue may look drastically different on a bigger piece.

Also will be speaking to the ID on the scratch marble floor. The workers were very careless. Saw the electrician just threw his hammer on my laminated floor and my wife scolded him for that.
