Renovating A Resales Flat In Jurong

Recommended Posts

Mimi.. 17ft is not very long... 17ft is only about 5m. Mine is already 21ft whilst I do bottom only. I think yours is really 17ft top and 17ft bottom. :)

I find the quote slightly on the high side and some things very confusing...

Thanks all for e concern .I manage to talk to ah soon. He say will call me when he a free. I think ah huatt or alan really quote too high. A mirror cost 150? For workmanship.we told him we have a budget yet he still quote me like those I'd.my kitchen cabinet is only 17 feet, cannot be 34feet cos it hdb.

Mimi, u need to clarify with Uncle Ah Soon on the kitchen cabinet...it is top 17ft & bottom 17ft or just bottom 17ft or top 8.5ft & bottom 8.5ft only.

ya mimi, agreed w Pet that 17 ft is not too long. Mine is the newer HDB n its already 14ft in length. So total top+bottom is 28ft. If yours is top+bottom, it should be considered as 34ft, which comes up to $100pft.. i think this rate is reasonably cheap. But agree with her too, that ur quotation is a little confusing. Items seems to be 'jumping' here n there. I think its safer to check it out with Uncle personally.

Dear all forumers who replied and pm me, Thank You very much for the help rendered

Through Jaskel, i have gotten to know his contractor, who does sedment spray for wall and floor

We are considering this option now

cos we are staying in the flat now

For us to redo the kitchen and toilet and master room, we need to sell off several pcs of furnitures and may need to move out

due this inconveniences, we may take up this sediment spray to lessen the trouble

Jaskel is very nice to offer us viewing of his house, but we travel from jurong to hougang to e contractor shop to see sample and was very tired. so we didnt see. but from the pic, his house is really impressive, Beautiful

Through Ivy n pink petter, we gotten to know Ah Soon and AH Huatt, but Ah Soon is very busy and Ah Huatt Quotes is too high, like ID price, contradictory to what i have understand from IVy, Pink Petter, Mrs Piglet and Growler's thread. But thanks to the above for sharing on Ah Soon and Mr Yeak

Btw, we have met up with Mr Yeak. His price is reasonable, but he will only be free to do in mid July which we find too late

Thanks to Alan26 for sharing his contractor, Naaman, this is another nice and friendly chap. But he is more of an ID

Will update our progress again

You may want to call up kelvin foo - tell him the toh yi 13 guy and "alvin" recommended. I did not get him to do my house because his quote was higher than Uncle's quote. However, his overall carpentry pricing, etc is very reasonable. Nearly signed up with him (as mentioned in my blog) if not for Uncle's appearance.

Dear all

I am back to update on my progress

Renovating is so tiring

Especially for me who is very kan chong

Wanna do it fast

Anyway i met up with about 4 contractors, Ah Huatt, Mr Yeak, another contractor/id recommended by alan26 and Yellow boots contractor recommended by jaskel

Ah Huatt quotes too high, Ah Soon never come to view my house. Mr Yeak schedule is tight and we have a lean budget

After much consideration on hacking and retiling and how much inconveniences, we decided to take up the sediment spraying on the wall tiles and other reno items

I will try to keep my budget within 10K (including buying sanitary and electrical stuff)

I will post up some pictures for forumers to view and see if there is any impact

Here are the list of items that we have decided to do:

Kitchen:

Sediment Spray on Wall

Alter Kitchen Cabinet to install Cooker and Hood ( the top one)

Add 1 more decor light (hanging) at the table area

Plaster wall and ceiling

Living Room

Platform

Add 1 more decor light (hanging) at the dining table

Wall paper for the wall at the tv console area

Master Bedroom

L shape Box

Cove lights with 8 points

Plaster the wall and ceiling

Wall Paper to 1 wall

Master Bedroom Toilet

Sediment Spray to Wall

Change Sanitary

Add Shower Screen

Manage to do some saving by going direct to KDK for installation as my contractor quoted me $660 for changing window and install fan, and going to this golden city (as i read in this forum) wall paper

This week was **** tired, spent a lot of cabs, going from Jurong to Balestier (to buy wc, basin) tot can buy cheaper after reading renotalk forumers sharing their experience...in the end also spend a bit on accessories

Lights wise, we were tired ...just went to Jurong East to buy, didnt bargain ....a bit regreted now

Total Cost =>

Contractor- 7.5K (May subject to changes)

KDK Fan_> $400

Wall Paper-> 800

Lightings (2 Hanging Lights, 2 wall Lights, 2 bedroom Lights -> 630)

WC, Basin, Accessories, Cooker Hoob -> 1400

Washer cum Dryer LG-> 900

New Study tables and cabinet from V Hive -> $770

TOTAL COST DAMAGES at the moment => abt 12K

Hope the minor reno will make an impact to my existing home

Btw, my house is balinese, zen style as i like resort feeling ,,,relaxed

Any forumers with same theme to share ?

Thank You

relax a bit mimi! dun drain urself out too much now. Anyway have u finalised on the contractor?

Btw, what is sediment spray? I read that toilets are exposed to moisture so its more advisable to lay tiles instead? :unsure:
