gaku70 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Didn't want to update anything yesterday due to foul mood. Firstly, tiling has been completed on 18th, I noticed that only a portion of floor in living is covered. Partial are by empty tiles boxes. All the bedroom, kitchen, store, balcony, not coverd. Two hugh rubbish hills are also sitting in the living room and bedroom and it is obstructing the path. Don't know why they don't want to clear since some parts are from hacking. Hightlighted to them to clear and put protective mat so that flooring will be damaged. Tuesday checked, rubbish not clear yet and floor not covered. Call Jason and he said will do it tomorrow. Checked on Wednesday, nothing done. He said not enough mat, will buy tomorrow. Called Thursday morning to remind him, said he is going to buy later. Checked in the evening still not done yet. Secondly the progress. Piping suppose to be done tuesday but not done. Jason said uncle didn't pass him drawing so cannot start and will start wednesday. Wednesday didn't start cos the piping guy busy and said will start thurday. Checked thursday nothing done. I don't know what is going on or when the piping is ever to get done. Called up uncle yesterday to express my unhappiness. I know the floor got lots of scratches because alu pipes, broken tiles lying around on the uncovered area. Bunch of alu are also in store room where floor is not covered. Uncle assured that Friday will clear and lay the protective mat. Explained to him that weekend all my stuff are coming in. By then the rubbish hill will not be able to go out. Lastly uncle admit that it might not be possible to HO end of month. But three rooms can be completed without carpentry. Told him not possible for me to move in my family when work is still being done. He asked me if 50-50 for my rental is alright or not. I am upset not because of paying the rental but the commitment and also the inactivity. I have found a flat in the same current block looking for rental. Will be meeting the landlord this sunday to see if can lower the rate and confirm the rental. There are some other smaller issues like forgetting this and that. Suppose to meet Jason yesterday to finalise the carpentry but he could not make it. He then told me that the detail will have to talk to the carpenter. I was wondering if that is the case, might as well talk to the carpenter direct.

Yes I have been keeping a lookout for flat for rental in my area. But because it is for short term, either one week or two, some are asking for ridiculous rate. I didn't know that I have to speak to the carpenter, will ask Jason to arrange.

familyof4 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Gaku, I think better for you to to move in only when everything's ready/. Rental wise, I can't help much, but all I can say is, the delays are quite inevitable. Sigh...imagine my supposed HO is next weekend, but till now, flooring will only be done by today? Cheer up! Uncle's guys needs to be pushed a little. He pushed them and as of yesterday, I saw lesser rubbish at my place. I am hoping that they really lay the protection for my floorings too...else I will start chasing Uncle.

I know it will be very dirty and messy if I move in before completion. My family is against the idea not because of the dirt but they don't like the idea of half naked men walking around when they are staying in the house. It is also poses other problems. On the rental, I have found cheaper rate but not at my block. I would need to pay for mover to shift to another block. The current offer I have is in the same block. So no choice higher rate. Need to push alot. Last few days not much activity and after call to uncle, things move. I called up uncle brother to make sure he clear the stuff and lay the mat. Just now he called me back to ask for my lock number. So I am sure he is at my place already. For the pipe guy, I do not have his number. If not will contact him directly. Jason told me he has arranged. I am quite sceptical. For aircon, have contacted in the morning to make sure he go install the trunking. preciousjam: Spoken to Jason but he refused to bring the carpenter. He mentiond he need to know the design and laminate first before he asked the carpenter to talk to me another time.

Gaku, I think you have no choice but to ask Jason who will be doing the carpentry for you! my preogress speeds up suddenly. keeping my fingers crossed on the whole thing. Cheer up ok? It's friday. bear with it for a while more and it will soon be over! I am prepared to go lay the floors with Hubby on Sunday if it is still not done. booy and smartie did that. Ask them to give you a schedule, elect works and plumbing can go on concurrently. If you are doing false ceilings, ask if they can also be done together. this will minimise lotsa time wastage. Uncle has limited good workers and they are over stretched. I can tell uncle to stop mine for a few days if need be, provided if we are using the came batch of workers.
