fondue_ 1 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 i told htb about how my gal friends do the thing of sticking photos of shoes in front of box he couldnt believe it and said "only girls will do such organised stuffs"...heee Now I'm thinking of customising the shoe cabinet. we need a sliding door type to minimise space. not sure if it worth doing Zig Zag (cant fit a shoe box but must fit htb's shoes) or stay with the old school style zigzag can fit more shoes right? hmm, think u've to see if you and hubby has a lot of shoes, if a lot then zigzag better? btw, ur handover on monday? do show us pics soon ok? happy for u :D :D

pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 mmm Xiaobinbin... if you can manage the inside of your shoe cabinet better you might be able to store more. Don't go for standard heights between your shelves. eg. try to make 2 low height ones for your slippers and pumps, then medium height ones for low heels and your hubby's shoes and then 1 or 2 slightly higher ones for yourself. Like that you can squeeze more shelves to put your shoes. I didn't do that in my house and i ended up stacking the shoes. So silly of me. I intend to do that when I'm constructing the shoe cabinet in my recess area.
adrian_john 1 Report post Posted April 28, 2009 XiaoBB, Fondue, PreciousJam and Pet, Its been really informative reading your views and suggestions about the shoe cabinet and keeping them in order. Thanks to your female-perspective inputs, I can probably score some brownie points with wifey by sharing your suggestions. I think we're gonna need a full height shoe cabinet to house all her shoes because I think the number of shoes she has can probably put her in the running to match those of Imelda Marcos. And she complains when I leave 3 shoes and 1 pair of sandals on the open shoe rack .... *Sighz*

My negative opinions on full ht shoe cabinets 1) Some areas may be too high to reach 2) May not be able to spot shoe colour/design at high ground 3) Supertitious MIL may tell u, shoe rack cannot be higher than your height else u kena "stepped". I will also be doing a full height cabinets. The top rows will assign to the man of the house since he is tall enough to reach, the lower shelves will be for me of course :x
XiaoBinBin 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2009 (edited) Fellow RTians I need some advice / feedback 1) Can share Ah Soon's quote for laminate flooring? Dekor / Supreme ; Low/Med/High density aka grade? 2) L-box with spotlights + covelights - is this overdo? How practical are covelights? 3) 10 ft Closet: Closet Design vs Closet Robe vs Ah Soon - which one is gd enough? i cant decide!!! Closet Design offers 6 drawers, flexible pole system @ 2500 Closet Robe offers any no of drawers @ waist level, US cabinet system, free accessory eg mirror @ 2500 Ah soon? - Typically a partition to separate wall and shelving unlike the above Edited May 1, 2009 by XiaoBinBin
