The Metropolitan

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Been a long time lurker here, and got lots of useful info and tips from all of you.

Time for me to share the blog for my second home.

Current home is a 4A HDB in Mei Ling Street bought 3 years ago, last time we only did very simple reno since it was in move-in condition.

We just bought a 3-BR flat at the Metropolitan, just off Redhill MRT.

TOP date : June/July 09

Area : 133 sq meter or 1432 sqft

Floor : 20+ floor

So this is the layout of our second home:

Plan to do simple reno as well, mostly timber decking for all planters, feature walls in living and MBR, mirror backsplash in kitchen, bay windows laminate top, etc.

Will be using all of our current furnitures to save money.

Below is my design for the furniture and room arrangement, done with floorplanner.com:

wow pinkpetter, you're always very fast hehe.

this was bought from the first buyer, but the TOP is only in July, so maybe no picture till then :(

Yeah the lots of planters is the thing we hate the most, such a waste of space, that's why we want to do timber decking to convert them to mini-balcony.

The layout of the wc/yard/utility was nice in a way that they are all square and straighforward, no funny angles like most condo, and the utility room has window too.

heh I'm just lucky to have logged on la. July will come soon! So you're planning now? Looked for an ID yet?

mm Yup I think planters need time and effort to maintain which is difficult for most Singaporeans these days. 3 Mini balconies will be nice. hehe

YESSS the wc/yard/utility is wonderful. In fact the layout of the whole condo is perfect!!

Thanks pink,

We have approached few ID and contractors, now shortlisting Yeak and Frontier concept.

Hi Metalsubzero,

yea we chose this one because of the layout, there is a big window opposite the balcony too, near kitchen, so the sunlight and view can go both ways

hi pinklady,

always admired your house especially your kitchen color, perfect combi!

we don't have much budget for reno already, maybe only 15k since not much to do, but maybe no space for WIW since floor area is big but wasted by the planters as well :(

the view is the greenery at tanglin and some orchard view, i heard from the opposite window can see the faint sea view if not blocked by the tall HDB hehe

congrats!! i was still wondering if u have set up ur t-blog when i saw ur post in mine. I love the position of ur main door, much more privacy than the current layout we have! :good:

yeah i know what you mean, although your layout is exactly the same as my current home, my home's main door is aligned to MBR door so not very nice, your layout is much better in that sense.

love what you did with the kitchen as well.

my new house's layout is quite diff from the actual floorplan, the 1st owner shifted the MBR door to face Bedrm 2 door instead, so wun be able to see from the main door. But still... i love the alley u have at ur main door! even the living/dining room got more privacy! Gd for u!

not a common door, still have to walk across two rooms cos i'm against hacking the partition becos it will be hard to sell in future. And anyway, there will be a beam there even if i hack. U shd know what i mean... ;)

Furnitures will come in this fri! :dancingqueen:

i think ur layout is very suitable to have those fixed cushion seat for the dining table!
