xvirusga76 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 (edited) Hi Everyone, i've been actively reading up this forum ever since i eyed on my unit 2 months back. finally after 2 months of ding-donging, i attended my first virgin trip to HDB! cant wait to collect my keys next month. prices for a 3NG resale for AMK is really ex, so i finally settled down on this unit together with my 9year old son. contractors/ I.D hunting aint fun, and its rather tedious, i end up toking about the same stuff to about 4 and i am already tired. think i sound like a broken recorder. prices quoted are so exxxx and the highest was $43k for a mere 73sqm flat lorx. so i'll hv to abort all the I.D's and go through for a contractor (hope it saves some cash), since economy is really bad. my budgt for the reno plus furnishings is only $20k. oh ya..hahaah, and to be really honest, i got so excited , i have already bought a substantial no of furniture from Winter at IFC Sungei Kadut! Total damage $4.4k Includes:- 1) Sofa 2) Side table 3) Black top dining table 4) 4 White leather chairs 5) my most fav of all, a white tv console that comes with nice feature wall behind! My best friend was like laughing at me, so typical kan cheong Hence, i tink my renovation should be cheaper, reallywould appreciate if you can throw in some good reliable names to choose from. hope to hear from all! ahockz 1 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 spam spam here. it tirig things to do reno, but anything related to $$$ need to be careful. a lot of cheater out there like to cheat first timer like us. A lesson learnt for me, less deposit, i only paid them when they finish what they had supposed to do, or what they suppose to buy. No pay in advance to allow them to buy material etc, if they don even have $$$ 2 buy the material, how they going to run their business . . . .
Angel81 1 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 Congrates on getting ur new place! Can always consider my contractor, Yeak. He's very reliable and quotations are very reasonable as well. He did rondy, roamca and my place, if you wish to take a look at his work.
mrspiglet 2 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 congrats on ur new house! my vote goes to Ah soon as well. My house's also completed with final rectifications. he was my cheapest after searching >10 quotes from various IDs/contractors. Anyway, got any pic of the TV console u bought? We loved one of the white tv console with feature wall as well. think was abt 8ft, with display shelving, placed right at the door. Did u happen to buy that? xvirusga76 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 thanks mrs piglet, here's some of my furniture i bought at Winter @ IFC Sungei Kadut, the sales lady, Joanna is really a good sales persona, with great service. here's some stuff which i really bought on a BIG impulse! i hope they suit into my storyboard of my house. the White TV Console with Feature Wall n Mirror Display Shelves:- the Black Glass Top with Extendable Side Panels the Lush Sofa i Eyed On, will be customizing my sofa to the correct dimensions for my living area. the fabric chosen for the Sofa After this first phrase of impulse buying, i am certainly pulling back my horses before they get out of hand had to resist myself when i was at IMM earlier!!! As i have decided to go without the IDs, i am like pouring over the mags every night, wondering how, and planning what to be added, browsed thru some of the blogs here for more inspirations, and i must say, all of you have fantastic looking, cozy homes! Hi, I just finished a simple reno on my 3 room flat. Initially my contractor quoted me 40k+ for a overhaul which is over my budget. I trimmed it down to 15k by doing only the basic. You can save even more by engaging different contractor for different work, but coordination will be tedious. Some before & after picture of my 15k renovation Edited April 2, 2009 by aijo

xvirusga76 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 Ok, latest updates, i finally managed to meet up with the Legenary Ah Soon uncle, whom, i feel, is rather fatherly. He has a very good grasps of his market industry, somewhat way better than those IDs i feel. He did provide me very good and practical solutions to my SMALL flat, and i am definitely eager to see his quotations. *crossing my fingers and toes* that the price is definitely more affordable than those i received so far. For those looking around, he is indeed VERY busy, as his mobile rings no stop at 11pm!! many many thanks to Pink Petter! thanks for your recommendations. I'll keep everyone updated. one question to all forummers, my current seller has SUDDENLY proposed to extend their handover keys process from 13th May to 16th MAy, should we comply?? just afraid there will be complications later. (my official date is 13th May - as per HDB letter). thanks.
ivy 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 it really depends on whether do u need the flat urgently yourself? if you cannot compromise on the reno timeline then no choice cannot extend. but if u are not in a rush and the sellers have been nice folks 3 days can be negotiable. to me your needs comes first. they dun have a right to insist actually.
