asugama 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2009 I think your house is really very nicely done-up .. especially like your kitchen and MBR with the wallpaper! Regarding the white patches on MBR laminate floor, did Uncle say how he is going to rectify it? I also saw a white ring patch on my MBR laminate floor too, I think it looks like paint :-( At first uncle asked someone to come and polish it with don't know what liquid.. But instead of white patches, it became brown patches... Eventually uncle told me he will need to ask the people from powerdekor to come, and most likely will need to replace it.. so need to take out part of the skirting... big headache.. so need to wait and see how they rectify it.. hi asugama, yr place look nice. It lookv cosy too.Nice choice for the wall paper.. Thanks... Your wallpaper is quite ex.. Dun think i will get approval from my FC.. It took us nearly 2 weeks to come to decision to install it.. Yeah very expensive.. I actually called up Uncle to ask him how come wallpaper so expensive.. Last time he told me 300-500 can do already.. Then he said he would pass me another contact for wallpaper... But waited for a few days and after 2-3 reminders, he still never gave me.. So, in the end we settle with this one.. asugama 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2009 wah...love ur MBR leh nice nice Thank you.. Hello asugama! Glad to see your house turned out so beautifully. Love the dark theme to the study desk especially. And the kitchen really looks quite nice. I was having trouble envisioning the finished look when you posted up those in-progress photos, but the end result really very nice. Question ah, your bathroom ventilation fan is installed for you by uncle is it? What model are you using? 20AUH? And where did you buy it from? Is it mounted on glass or perspex? Looking to buy 2 of those for my house and uncle promised to fix up for me, but confused over the choices for kdk ventilation fans ah... Yes, it's 20AUH and installed by uncle.. We bought it from Royal Fanco.. It's mounted on perspex not glass.. Actually from close view, it doesn't look very good. asugama... hope you dun mind. I save the picture of your kitchen (the cabinet next to the fridge) so that I can show Uncle that I want to make shelving for my stupid microwave and toaster which is in the middle of nowhere now. Glad to know that your S/S is better and it looks so much cleaner now! I love your MBR.... love.... No problem.. Most of the idea also come from this forum.. So, we want to thank everyone who shares their photos and renovation process..
asugama 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2009 Thanks for the explanation. I was looking at Electrolux, Bosch, Brandt and EF and finally zooming in on either EF or Brandt. For Brandt, any idea if GC, HN or Courts has any promotion on this washer. Thinking of getting it by this week. asugama: Really like you carpentry. Even from far can see the lines are clean and very good workmanship. Yes, at first we wanted to buy EF washer as well.. Btw, if you decide to buy EF, you can try Goh Ah Bee.. So far their price is the lowest for EF washer, we checked out Parisilk, Everjoin, Goh Ah Bee, Gain City and Best Denki.. But EF doesn't have 8kg washer, so we decided to go with Brandt because Electrolux and Bosch are more expensive...

Hmm .. they took out mine before, actually it is not very messy i think. Don't worry about it. For those buying electrical items, can find out the model and call up electrical shops for a quote. We got most of our stuff from Ban Kim Chuan

Actually from close view, it doesn't look very good. Eh? What do you mean by close view not very good? The installation was not done nicely you mean? Btw, was your toilet window originally lourvre type or casement type? Uncle tell me to just buy the fan and he will install but never give me advice what model to buy, hence asking so many questions of you =p

Btw, was your toilet window originally lourvre type or casement type? Uncle tell me to just buy the fan and he will install but never give me advice what model to buy, hence asking so many questions of you =p hard to describe it here, from close view you can see the perspex cutting line and the wire as well, and also the glue/silicon. i also bought the fan....those window mount as well.....think i got the smallest size for $50 each at RF. mmm.. I thought ours is the smallest size also.. RF charged me higher... hey asugama, how was the s/s backing? resolved? The s/s backing is resolved now, they cut out the silicon and put lesser silicon just to secure the hood chimney.. By no means it can be called ideal, but it's acceptable.. The person took almost a day to do it..
adrian_john 1 Report post Posted June 17, 2009 Hi Agus, Thank you to you and Cindy for hosting my wife and I yesterday evening. Nice to meet a neighbour and fellow 'countryman'. Your place looks really fantastic. Very nicely thought out layout and choice of colours and laminates. And all the furniture falls into place so well. The carpentry work is really tops too. Your MBR is really cosy and nice with the platform and wallpaper touch.

asugama 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 Finally our laminate flooring was changed and our curtain has also been installed. And we are very happy that OUR RENOVATION IS OFFICIALLY OVER! :D I think I should write a short review on Uncle Soon upon completion. We are glad that we engaged Uncle to do the renovation for our new flat, though there're quite a lof of hiccups here and there, rectifications, etc that at one stage we both thought that this process was killing us.. We were so tired as we had to rush back every night to check on the progress. And quite a number of times, I have to rush back during lunch time as well. Fortunately, our new flat is very near to our current place, otherwise, it may really be such a pain to supervise the process. However, I have to say that Uncles is really a nice guy. He really meant what he said, you can rest assure that Uncle will definitely rectify all defects found without any excuse given. And he will also throw in a few FOC items without us asking: 1. Shelvings in storeroom 2. Box up piping 3. Repaint all doors 4. There're still a few other items which I can remember And IMHO, the best part is he gave very good price for every items done. Less than 2k for the following VO items: MBR false ceiling, raised platform, our small vanity in master bathroom, headboard, TV console and extra 3ft full height cabinet at study area. So, we give Uncle Soon 4 popcorns out of 5. (Rating: ****)
