Smallboy 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 hi Aubrey, read your concerns about the carpentry works. I remember seeing the inside (core) of the wood. It is like 'layers' of wood (laymen terms). But not as thick as the one Reiki showed. As for the kitchen cabinets, I think the overall thickness looks ok. I saw your pics on the sink part. Looks exactly like mine lei. As for ability to withstand weight, I got 1 carpentry guy to stand and sit here while putting in the OVEN, it was ok. If you got any questions, good to clarify with Uncle. yowetan 1 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 Hi Aubrey, This is the prospective concern that I always wanted to address since my very first post. You will need to ask yourself, why most of the IDs or contractors are not able to meet your budget etc. Supervision granted - you love to take in charge. Quality - it is something that requires additional supervision and eagle instinct to prevent people from shortchanging you. Having said that, budget is the key word. Fast, efficient, effective, good cost - they never comes together as an equation. Uncle's soon needs to earn, he cannot be doing charity work and nice work just to please all. Good luck! Thanks. Reiki 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 and if i were to go to an ID firm, ask for the hottest ID, i think the result is still the same. everyone wants a good deal. not that everyone cant meet my budget, but rather, they grossly overcharge and the hidden costs are lurking everywhere which is not one thing i want to deal with. You have a point there, aubrey. Though engaging an ID carries a higher price tag, it is also important that the consumer [us all] must know what we want. Or expect. A good ID must be able to 'educate' the customer, during the period of discussions and renovation, and not only to focus at end results. Having gone through with an ID, which I must say that we were lucky to have her, we still needed to monitor during the renovation progress. The good thing we only had to liaise with her when we were unhappy about certain things. She was lots under our pressure.
