my kitchen cabinet. the space on the left of the drawer is where the gas cylinder is deposited. on the left of that, its supposed to be my sauce + spice rack but i think it seems oversized!! is it?

is this solid plywood? doesnt look like it to me.. feels like those compressed wooden grains/chip then finished with laminate. very ikea style.

If you have doubts about the materials used, don't hesistate, call uncle and ask him to come by and have a look. Fondue's picture is the right one.

yes I intend to get uncle to change it after hearing the responses here. one other thing, I'm really quite disappointed with my kitchen cabinets. it feels real thin. esp e table top. not sure if it can bear e weight of granite top on it. the side is also too thin for my liking. the width is merely e size of my thumb placed vertically.

Feedback to Uncle directly...don't even go to Jason. Cos uncle is more 爽快 and decisive on such matters.

hiya aubrey, how are you....i notice u mention whetherif this is the solid plywood...well yes it is...jus that this plywood is not the better ones...they wont last as long as those multiple cross layered ones. if you saw the previous pst that fondue replyed...that one is 100% solid plywood..very firm n durable.

in this case since uncle said he uses solid plywood but this is just normal plywood should i accept? uncle was over at my place late at night with someone viewing my place. i asked him if the table top is too thin, he said its ok,standard. not sure if its cos i have not placed worktop over or what but i dont like it much.

rondy, here's the pics. its soooo thin. i dont care im gonna tell uncle to make it thicker.

any thoughts on it?

well...i can only guess why he used thin woods to build ya kitchen cabinet is to make ya kitchen look more spacious...cos based on the pic. the overall looks spacious wif slim cabinets...somewhat like minimalist....but if its 100% solid plywood i guess it would alrite...unless u plan to place some super heavy objects on the cabinet top...drawers wise...i think u should check out if it able to support those steel pots n pans....

no harm to discuss with the contractors.... jus say you are being curious loh hahaha....

shogen, i think granite worktop weights quite heavily. i am not certain about that! i feel ks cos looks aside, it should be lasting. that is my top concern.

fannie, its around the size of my thumb, say 1.5cm? quite worrying.

aubrey: If my memory serve me correctly, carpentry done with solid plywood is more expensive. I know some id or contractor try to use cheaper material.

The one in your picture looks like composite plywood. It is not a solid plywood because it is more expensive. Anyway after edge trimmed, you will not see what is inside.

So usually thin pieces of plywood will be composited together with the particles, fiber board (those you see in the middle) with resin. It is cheaper to have thicker composite with lesser plywood.
