aubrey 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 i asked him to pass me first. cos i feel i havent done enough planning so i need to plan exactly what i want and visualize it for myself. i gotta give myself a crash course in sketchup later. i want to give it a modern minimalist look so i want to see the colors etc. and yea, im a control freak. and here's some tiles we chose. - close up of motif this is option 1 for bath + toilet. kinda feel like it's a tad overdone and will stick out like a sore thumb in the overall flow of my design somehow! if my kitchen is black and white theme and my bath & WC is screaming colours... dont think it will work. this is option 2 for the bath/WC area. have this as backup in case the tiles before were too ex but uncle says he will just absorb. the kitchen wall tiles. i will lay it horizontally as i think it will make my kitchen look larger. ignore the black mosaic, i wont be using that at all. i am going for clean cut look with no disturbing elements. i have a qns. i have this beam that is in my kitchen, will you recommend putting wall tiles for that beam or simply leave it alone with no tiles? i dont want the beam to look outstanding, and the wall tiles are glossy so i thought if pasted on, the beam will be right in your face. :/
aubrey 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 when uncle came we picked this. im starting to NOT like it. should i have it all white? suggestions? i wanted grey but they have no matt non slippery good grey tiles at sin lek. close up. there's some groove lines within the tiles. ok the more i blog about it, the more i do not like it. out of the 3 tile samples we brought back uncle says this is the best. i was afraid that dirt will be trapped within the groove lines he say won't. but now i dont want the lines at all! floor tiles we chose. somehow not too much difference. must ask uncle which ones we chose. cannot remember which ones we picked. but still not too bad since it's more whitish than anything else. with flash on, and the living room lights on. i wont be having any fancy cove lights nor l-box in my living room. just those plain old lights you saw earlier. not sure if they will turn out nice. all suggestions, comments and feedback are welcome! guy77 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 aubrey, u also went sin lek just now? i went just now also. chosen my tiles. see until eyes tired. i saw your option 1 tiles. My dad likes it but i oppose it. hahaha. cos dun blend in with my concept. too "atas". but have to agree if done well, it is very very nice, especially the white one. ya. i chosen some white tiles with streaks of grey, but under camera, like no difference from white tiles. pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 I love the ones for bath+toilet... my parents didn't allow. Your backup one is the one which quite a few of us chose... thanks to the nice display. BUTTT just a warning.. the dark coloured tiles and lighter ones don't match exactly... some of the others had this problem. Good idea to lay the white wall tiles (kitchen) horizontally. to widen the look of the kitchen. mm as for the flooring of the kitchen.. it depends on what colour you want your cabinets to be. My kitchen tile is matt grey 600X600 from Sin Lek ah... mm I haven't splashed water and flooded my kitchen before so I'm not sure if it's non-slip. The white tiles... the bottom one seems greyer.. the other two look the same... mm

pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 OHHHH is it? then no worries la. hehe but I don't intend to "wash" my kitchen anyway. At most I'll dry mop. Uncle did say that if I chose 600X600mm tiles for the kitchen I shouldn't wash because the "running of the water" will not be as good as the toilet.

mrspiglet 2 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Aubrey, i tiled the beam area as well. it did not appear to me as outstanding, maybe i was more obsessed with my kitchen cabinets instead. Btw, the wall tiles picked were white with wavy pattern on it, i.e. the surface is not totally flat. Another thing to note regarding ur 2nd choice toilet tiles. we took the same tiles as well (i guess most of us were sold by the mock up at Sin lek!) but there was this diff of 2mm for the height of the grey n beige tiles. If u wanna take this combi u may wanna check with them if the current batch of tiles still got this problem.
aubrey 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 to all: i called uncle!! i told him i want to go LSH to see! he say, go ahead! even told me there's 4 shops there to browse thru. so tmr i am dragging my mom down to have a look with me. i pretty much like my selection for toilet as i love such motifs but feel that it will not go with my theme. if my kitchen has a color scheme, i am thinking it should flow all throughout the house. if so, means i would have to re-select my toilet tiles!! my friends did say its ok to have a different color scheme each room but i think its going to be messy. pet what do u mean by light and dark dont match exactly? im just concerned about my lights used. i know sin lek uses spotlight and i only have normal white light in my bath/WC area. i think that might just affect the look of things. guy77 so you are getting all from sin lek? mrspiglet dunno if i should put it for the beam. dont want it to stand out. hmmm.. i wont be getting that cos i am going for my first option, the atas tiles! but maybe i might change my mind once i see LSH selection! guy77 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 guy77 so you are getting all from sin lek? ya. getting all mine from sin lek. unless i show to uncle next week and he said my tiles selection cannot make it, then i will reconsider going to LSH. Personally, I like my living room tiles a lot. I think it is very glossy and I like things to be glossy. Hahaha.

aubrey 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 guy77 ya i picked the whitest glossy tiles for living & bedrooms cos i like bright airy homes! i hope it works out. and maybe if u have spare time, can pop over to LSH to check it out. i chose some tiles from them. but seems like LSH may have more selections, they can be a little more expensive in terms of common tiles. eg: my light white tiles from sin lek was $3 but at LSH it's $3.50! nuts. pinkpetter i chose new tiles from LSH! upload them later at home. have been busy going around to see tiles and packing the house. so far so good, cant wait for the laminates etc to come. i have some ideas in mind for my carpentry. i drew it out by hand, still no time to play with google sketchup. oh yes, hows your backsplash like? i am still confused with these terms.
