Retrospectrum Meets Modernisation!

Recommended Posts

Hi Aubrey,

I'm also looking for ID or subcontractors. Comparing the unit price your ID quoted to mine - your unit price is much better!

e.g. my ID quoted plastering 1.8K only for living room, 2 bedroom, and kitchen ceiling :dunno:

So, I decided to find another contractor who do only plastering and painting...

Cheers,

Michele

is yours 3room? so far 2 have quoted 1k for plastering for my place (floor plan in 1st post) and that is a reasonable charge to me for entire house + ceiling. perhaps u can try to bring it down cos u have a better chance to nego for cheaper rather than to go to another just for painting and plastering.

less work they charge more. more work = room to nego

I've seen Corian quotes at $125 pfr and LG at $110. Maybe there are slightly cheaper/ more ex but I've seen it a few times at this pricing. One ID quoted me LG for $125/pfr

are u using granite for your tabletop? some IDs said there's pros and cons to it. granite per slab at its longest is 6ft, anymore than that i have to add two slabs tgt and the "joint marks" will show and i cannot chop heavily on it lest it cracks/breaks. is all that true? hee hee maybe i can go check it out before deciding on solid surface if difference is not too big. still waiting for other quotes to come in.

yes me using granite for my kitchen cabinet and sink area

there is joint line but my contractor 'hide' it under my hob so not very visible

as for the chopping heavily part, not too sure coz the heaviest chopping we did was chop chicken (bones and all) and some pounding using those granite thing :notti:

when my unit was still under renovation, i always sit on the countertop also

hello all pls give me sometime to respond, currently in office and left all name cards at home. will reply once i am home. so since so many have asked for contact, i suppose it is a fair price quoted to me by the ID?

unfortunately i do not understand why his 25k is on par with the other company which charges more overall and yet is also 25k..

Q: What is the common material used in kitchen cabinet? Just plywood am I right?

hmm this is a bit confusing

it's plywood but most will quote as 'solid plywood'

it's suppose to be thicker than normal plywood

think it's around 10mm or 15mm thick compared to the 5mm of plywood :dunno:

Based on this, looks like what Ho Bee gave me was china plywood, the cheapo one, bcos some areas inside my kitchen cabinet have started to "open mouth", in less than a year after I moved in :(

yea i was thinking of granite but cost is too big a diff so i will go for solid top from msia. i forgot the brand. was told there's another good brand called corian which is the pioneer solid top manufacturer or sthing? just that brand is european, made in msia. -_-

yup hoping for them to quote low but learned the hard way!! so far my budget to them is 15k and they are telling me 25k which is 10k in excess. :curse:

actually have fixed my lights alr so just may need to relocate points.

@ applefreak - some IDs measured about 15ft for me, if i am really keen on granite where to go direct?

got this quote from an ID, is it reasonable to you guys?
