growler 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2009 Update: Uncle did appear at around 11.30? He told me that electrician and plumbers will come, which they did. Electrician is Ah Tan (he went to get reinforcement as he said my unit can't be completed by him alone). Plumbers - a team of 2 headed by Ah Yan. They are already doing up the pipes. Painters (supposed to be 2 malay guys) have yet to appear. Uncle said he will buy the paint and pass it to me but he disappeared. Not to be negative, but I suspect that Uncle will only turn up (almost punctually) if it's time to collect payment, which he did. He asked for 30% (which was about the amount of work completed till now). I'm not trying to make life hard for uncle but if you really need uncle to respond, hold your payment and he'll be sure to be there. The carpentry will also be delivered on 22nd (hopefully) and I hope Uncle can fix my rubbish chute by monday because i'm afraid that my boy will end up 13th floor downstairs if I just turn my head away for 1 sec ..... (THIS IS NO JOKE !) I have told Uncle about the rectification works Ashes. He said he will look into it. I've also sort of understood the relationship between him, Alan and Joseph (Bo Geh). Will post abit more on my blog. Thank you all. If you have any thing that you need to let Uncle know, you can PM me your nick and mobile. Will let him know cuz I still owe him 30% ... haha .... Asugama: Haha ... the painters also never appear at my place. I guess they must have gone somewhere else where the fire is burning more violently ! Anyway, the more pressing matters at my place have been resolved. At least I can use 2 toilets now. pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2009 Please forgive. My personal opinion. I don't think we are in the position to help Uncle with the project management on a freelance FOC basis. There are a number of reasons ba... 1) One or two people working extremely close together can manage better for Uncle. Cos they would have a bird's eye view of what is going on in every house and thus can plan for Uncle's work schedule better. Also if the areas are split up, the people managing will not know exactly how many homes are there in each area. 2) If we not paid... then what happens if there's an error? If Uncle hires someone proper with a salary, he can tick off the person and the person is paid and can be held responsible for the things he/she does. However if it's us, we still have our own work and cannot be expected to give 100% accurate work and be on call every hour of the day. As it is, people are calling Uncle from 8am - 11pm++... How many of us can handle those phonecalls and emails? And if we don't, then we aren't much help to Uncle. 3) Lastly, I don't know about you all... but I enjoy my status as a homeowner, purely Uncle's customer, and not his helper. To be honest... from dec, I have been getting PMs and comments which are nasty... saying that I want to be a freeloader to help Uncle get a lot of business and get more things from him FOC. It has been very hurting but I know that I mean nothing like that so I continue. I think by helping Uncle, future renovation customers might think that helpers of Uncle get something in return or some money for recommending him. It wouldn't help for his recommendations. I guess for many people who read our very real comments now they feel that they are getting a true-r picture of Uncle's work. I doubt they will feel as secure if we become Uncle's helpers. So it's much more beneficial to Uncle to get someone proper. In reality... Uncle has someone working for him, doing admin and clerical work. I've spoken to her before over cheque payments. Maybe it's time Uncle widen her job scope. I'll talk to Uncle on Monday regarding this issue. I spoke to him just now and I think he's very very tired... He needs his Sunday break to freshen up. Not all are patient like us. i still talk to uncle nicely though inside i am very worried when he fly me aeroplane. but some will shout or rude to uncle, and i think not very good. Brought my mom along as she will be staying there on most days of the week too! The goods that arrived. Toilet accessories cum lightings.... The original door sealed up and this shows the new space Windows all up False ceilings and cronices waiting to be up. Work should start on Monday. The MBR shower feature wall Frankly i was not really inpressed by this wall! haha....Hubby's quite sad that it is not as nice as he had expected to be. Blame his selection! He insisted in this instead of my selections! The wirings for elect were somehow done. we saw the plumbing guys today, some masonry works going on too. As for the MBR tiles.. it's quite nice what. but I'm curious.. are the rest of the spaces tiled? cannot see properly. It looks like cement... **AH... the dining area very messy...** lol later i go take. Poor girl.. have to be working mommy cum coordinator.. nvm it'll only be for about a month more. JIA YOU!
