Looks like most of you just start the reno first, so should be safe. *crossing my fingers*

The plan is to install L-BOX with 6 downlights in the dining area and also a dining light hanging down from the ceiling.

The Living area will have false ceiling with 8 square downlights (2x18W each) and a 54" fan.

What do you all think?

I have a few questions, hope you all can help:

1) Will the dining be too bright with 6 downlights?

2) For the living area, I wonder if the 54" fan is too big. I am worried that we will be seeing flickering shadows when the fan is on. Also what is a good brand of fan to buy har? I ordered the Crestar 54" from Extreme for 220, but I think still can change since it is not delivered yet.

3) Are 2 switches enough for the 8 downlights in the living area? Or should we split them up further?

hi apple, i think its better to split the lights up, so you can have a choice on how bright u wan u dining/living area to be bah..

for my case, 1 switch is allocated to max 2 lights..

Pro: flexible lighting and save electricity

con: extra cost of switch and super difficult to remember which switch is for wat.. :D

but in general, i think having more switches is still the correct option in my opinion la.. :yamseng:

Somemore I want to do 2-way switch .. that means times 2 right? :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:

I think your light groupings seem ok to me... too many switches... make me blur. haha will keep "playing" with them to find the right one.

I have 5 switchs for lights in the living room at my old place for 7 years.

The only familiar one is the centre one which on the foyer light.

The rest still trial & error.... :P

Thanks for all your advices, we have decided to split the 4 lights group under Switch E into 2 different controls since it can be controled in a 3-gang switch.

The last 2 days very busy and spend a bomb!

Confirm aircon Mitsubishi system 4, bought extra down lights and 1 more wall mount crystal light for our room (pics coming up)

Also bought Franke package with duo-bowl sink, mixer, kitchen hob and hood together with WCs, basins, rain shower, taps etc etc.

Aiyo, didn't know all these small little things add up so much! Now just feeling very broke and exhausted from all the shopping zz:wacko:

Actually I wanted to buy the Rinnai hob and hood but ended up with Franke. Partly it is cheaper but the other reason is also becos I am worried the Rinnai glass top will crack. What did you all choose ah (stainless steel or glass hob)? Anyone use Franke Hob before can share experience?

Next, we are going to buy:

- Oven (Ariston, Brandt or what is a good brand?)

- LCD TV (this one hubby can decide ;) )

- Sofa (St Louis or where??)

- Dining Table

- Curtains/Blinds

system 4? living room also air con?? how much is ur system 4?

Yup, living room also have aircon. My hubby wants to aircon every corner if he can hahahaa

It is not the cheapest quote at 3.8k, but we got him to do our aircon for our current place and his workmanship quite ok.

He has came onsite to talk to ah soon on how to route the aircon trunking and piping, we think it will look neater than the existing trunking.

If you want, do pm me and I can pass you his number :P

wahhh expensive!! but what matter most is good workmanship. I already got a contractor that did my former place also. for the 6 years I stayed there, no problem at all, thus we had contacted him to do our new place already, just that we not yet decided on which brand of air con to get...

Yalor .. I also think it is expensive. But my hubby prefer to deal with him. So no choice.

Are you going to install system 3 or 4? Non-inverter is quite a lot cheaper

Updates!!!

Ah Soon & team started work on Sat. They basically dismantle kitchen cabinets, laminate flooring and also the MBR wardrobe.

This morning they started hacking about 9am .. I think should be finished by today

The next few days should be tiling, plastering, electrical works, aircon etc

When do you all start choosing the laminates and wallpaper?

Hmm .. I heard inverter is for people who use their aircon regularly lor. I think you can go and check out the aircon blogspot to see the writeup, which is quite good :)
