Phantom 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Well, there are a couple of things you might want to take note. Viewing Distance Optimal viewing distance has always been a criteria for folks who are fussy and want to have a good viewing distance to the screen. You might want to check here to calculate what's an optimal viewing distance to your screen. For a simplified version of size and distance, click here Lumens Screens < 80 inches diagonal : Recommended 1000-2000 Screens between 80-120 inches diagonal: Recommended 2000-3500 Screens > 120 inches : Recommended 3500 or more Unfortunately, if you can control your lighting because projectors typically need a dimmer lighting, then you need to get higher lumens. Lamp Life Generally lamps nowadays can last around 3000hours So estimating around 6hrs a day everyday, you can wait till another 1 year 5 months before changing a new lamp which could cost another few hundred dollars. One drawback is the lack of video input options as compared to LCDs or Plasma TVs. Watching HD for television is really an overkill in my opinion unless you watch bluray etc..
