Arul Yanakan 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2009 Just checked the HDB website today and my first appointment is on the 17th of Feb...this is what I was hoping for as I want to do and early completion. Hopefully, completion is within 5 weeks and I get to move in by April 1. Yet to engage a contractor, but I guess I will just go for Plush Living.

Arul Yanakan 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Just a quick update..... I have more or less decided on what I want to do. I am pretty much been dealing with IDs as opposed to using a contractor, which is really the direction I may go for. However, even the contractor's quote is quite similar to the ID. Perhaps someone can advice me on a few things 6ft full height wardrobe - ID quote me $1300. How is a average contractors price? supply wall tiles for bathroom - ID quote me $1400. Contractor's price is? hack bathroom wall and floor tiles. ID is $600. (400+200). Contractor's price is? Tv console with feature wall. ID quote me about $2000. I have asked a few more quotes from some contractors today. Am waiting to see to compare. In the meantime, would appreciate some advice from you folks. Thanks

Thanks Well, hard to compare this way as some times contractor charge by run per ft for wardrobe. Think it is good that you get quotes from both IDs and contractors before you decide....Time consuming but at least you know whether package you paid for is worth it ya... Pinklady 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 i looked at the pics of your new pl. so happy 4 ya. its all so new and you got urself a bargain. can save heaps of money becos not much reno is needed. Great for u! the advise is, i tink contractor should be cheaper, but from my experience is, dun ever go for those flyers where they throw into ur letterbox. they sucked. because i ever tried to call the 'door specialist" as they call it, everything is a 'package' anything extra must top up extra money. Arul Yanakan 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 After weeks of reading and getting about 7 design ideas and various quotes, I finally agreed to engage ***. I know there are some bad reviews in this forum about them, but I liked the design proposed by the ID. Plus, what I liked about him is, he LISTENED to what I want and he incorporated it into the design. Met quite a few who listened to me, but in the end came up with their own ideas. There was one ID who did not even allow me to put a LCD TV in my room, saying its bad for my eyes. Last but not least, he is someone I was with in the army some 20 years ago. Just happened to bump into him at the "Modern Living" exbihibition at the Expo. So I am rest assured,he will look into my flat with care. I did highlight to him about the bad reviews and made sure that the same thing will not happen to me. I can be a tough customer when I want to be, even if it means its a friend Will keep all posted on the reno as it moves along. Its a simple reno, nothing fancy.
