kewin 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2008 Yes, I let my wife knows how much I earned to show her a sense of security as she is not working. But I actually want to start a new thread. Will you let your PIL & MIL know how much your earn?
zirhk3355 1 Report post Posted December 24, 2008 Ok, here's your new thread! Let me start first: For 'leisure' or 'kaypoh' reasons, I will not let my PILs know my salary. What for? To compare to their other children-in-laws?? But of course unless necessary, like buy house together or submit some documents, etc. (or in today's context, help me find a job!) then I will let them know. Anyway i myself "accidentally peeped" at my FIL when he left his IRAS income tax form on table..hehe.
kewin 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2008 This one is sensitive.. because it all depend. Does your still give your PIL money, especially mum like to buy things? Because if your PIL knows how much, they might want a bigger share. You get what I mean..
july-winter 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2008 Yup i agree. Even my MIL also wants to know my hubby's salary but dare nt ask him directly, instead ask me. i felt she is quite KAPO and the type that likes to compare her own son with her other daughter and her son-in-law and her niece's husband over the salary range. Sorry to say but the mother-son relationship between your MIL and your hubby does not seemed good leh; why go ask DIL about own son's salary??
july-winter 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2008 Sorry to say but the mother-son relationship between your MIL and your hubby does not seemed good leh; why go ask DIL about own son's salary?? Yeah rite. My hubby still pissed off by the way his own family treats him many years ago before i came into the pic. so now after he changed his job(recently) he is able to earn more enough to stop his sisters from shooting mouths off, still he dun prefer to let his own family know how much and always remind me not to reveal too much abt his earnings nor discuss abt our cash proceed with his family. Obviously his mum failed as a mum when it comes to her own children.
kewin 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2008 No choice one. I dunno why my parents always like to compare my salary with other Aunties' Son. I did not even tell my own parents how much I earn because they always like to compare with others.
Bugsfire 1 Report post Posted May 22, 2012 Not if your in laws like to compare and maybe ask for more.
shmj 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2012 My mom asked me about how much my hubby earns... I always 'under declare'... same goes for my own salary. She will also asked me how much I make. For my mom - I know that she will - 1) Compare with her friends' kids, 2) ask me for more allowance, 3) ketok me for expensive meals/ giftsMy in laws know how much my hubby earns cos he is very open to them and also know that they wont anyhow ketok him.But they do not know exactly how much I earn... only know (through one of hubby's kaypoh sis) that I earn about the same as the hubs. Both hubs and myself know exactly how much we each earn.
