Smallboy 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I need stress test as well... My instant noodle skills cannot test my Fujioh hob and hood... Do you or mum wants to stress test my stove for me? haha.. hahaha... you dont know what you are asking for? My mom aka zhi-char style........ full of fire and fumes.... the hotter the fire the better. Then smoke will engulf the place. Now you know why I had to have a wet kitchen. I am old school type. After she cooks, I like to splash water on the floor to wash away the grease. Luckily I only allow her to cook 2 times a week. Or else my white kitchen will be grey charcoal soon! born_again 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) I see u having problems with wall papers. Previously we also had wallpapers for our headboard featured wall and the TV featured wall behind the WIW. Simply CMI as its really not easy to do a good job and the person doing it must really be skilful. Furthermore, the company also told us that our humid weather is one of the culprit and the glue must be very strong to hold the wallpapers. The ID got the wall paper people to do it twice but still CMI so we opted for laminates. Yes, Laminates that we use for our wardrobe, kitchen cabinets. 2 colour tones for the TV featured wall in MBR (sorry the photos quite blur as snapping the photos before officially vacating it. Love the feel of wood grains and also easy to maintain too. Was very challenging as few months b4 we sold off the place we did lots of cleaning as my girl was too artistic. Draw on the 'wall' almost every other day. laminates for the headboard and tempered glass. (sorry posted pics in your blog) Edited May 22, 2009 by born_again
born_again 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Stains on tiles: Stains cannot resolve already. Let it be. But I must ask Jason/Uncle how to maintain. Homo tiles seems really tough to maintain. Today my girl did coloring with Crayons. I nearly died. The Crayons sticks to the floor and when I clean it, it leave the colour on the tiles. GASP! help... help... anyone got this experience? use this thing called "magic sponge" white in colour can get cheap ones from daiso at 2 bucks per packet or get betters, long lasting quality from howard storage. works like magic is cleaning away stains and marks. HTH yes, homo tiles really difficult to maintain which is the reason y I would never ever do homo tiles again. Always feel frustrated when I look into my old house as the flooring really CMI and always envy my neighboring units as their ceramic tiles looks so clean and shining. must be extra careful when using the 'magic sponge' as that particular part would become whiter than the rest of the tile. Can see it very clearly especially if your unit has the sunlight shining in.
Smallboy 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 (edited) XBB, I remember it was cast iron. You can check with Desmond. Born again, thanks for your help. That's why now, I am wanting to go for painting. As for Homo Tiles, sigh... it look so good but hard to maintain. That's what my sis friend had too. Always got to clean. Apples, a bit of works here and there. I forgot to tell Uncle about black grouting again. hahaha.. maybe I can leave with 'cement' color afterall. hee..he... Booy, hee..hee.. I also can stress test for you. I am my mom's disciple. My 'wok-hei' (ie wok fire) very important to me when i cook. Edited May 23, 2009 by Smallboy

As for Homo Tiles, sigh... it look so good but hard to maintain. That's what my sis friend had too. Always got to clean. ya, i agree with u. I think opting for paint would be so much better and maintenance wise is also easier. Homo tiles looks nice but really difficult to maintain especially if there's heavy traffic at home. We got much more expensive homo tiles for our old place and really disappointed with it. The grout lines really get dirty so easily. Being the clean freak, I bought all sorts of floor cleaners n mops to clean but just cant get the shine....stains here and there. I even restored to using hands to mop but still cant get the shine Edited May 23, 2009 by born_again

We tried with the bleach (green bottle) but it didnt help much. Anyway we already cleaned up the grout lines and make it white again. But its a good website to learn some cleaning tips. Thanks. XiaoBinBin 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2009 @Wendy Was showing HTB handleless kitchen...he commented a bit hard to open if its heavy. How is urs so far? If I didnt remember wrongly, yours is a slanted groove down inwards right?
Smallboy 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 thanks audrey and born again for the tips in cleaning. XBB, yes.. initially I also find the handleless part tough to open. But there is a 45 degree slant which you can slot your fingers in and pull it open. It takes a while getting used to. I put some heavy pots in the lower drawers. In fact, not much of a problem. Blum tracks very smooth!!!

According to the product manager whom we met during our installation, he mentioned that Blum works efficiently with much heavier loads.
