my aunt was with me when I went to your place. She said ur kitchen wall tiles exude a retro feel and she says it's really nice!

hahaha..this is SO funny. My wife hates the Retro Look........... she will faint when she reads this.

She just wanted something funky and different......... you can see the rest are normal WHITE glossy tiles... but for that feature wall in the kitchen, she wants a special look...........hopefully when the cabinets are up...... you will see her vision of modern contemporary. :)

I wrote in ivy's thread that Ah Soon may be overloaded and closer supervision is needed on his workers to ensure the right quality of work. These are some examples, but hopefully Ah Soon has rectify or soon to rectify :) :)

A. Smiling face

We found this series of chipped tiles that form a smiling face. The electrician must have a misfire with the drill. We asked the electrician and he told me it will be covered up by wire trunking. Even the tile master lamented how could it happened. We told Jason and the tile master, and the tile is changed the next day.

B. Toilet windows

We wanted to change the toilet windows but did not ask to see the sample. Ah Soon went ahead and install the window panels without asking us. He only asked us about the frame, which we wanted bronze. Then the window panels turned out looking like 70s windows. Frames was right but panels very very "sar-la"(wrong).

My wife was pretty upset, but Jason agreed to change the window panels to a more comtemporary looking one.

Well, we still recommend Ah Soon to anyone but advise that we pay closer attention to the workmanship. We also need to pay close attention to details. :) :) :)

heh heh I think all these were happening way before Ah Soon became busy ba. :) Even during my time when he wasn't so busy there were small things here and there... but he rectified all.

But the tile thing is really wierd.. why dot dot dot.. the guy cannot decide where to drill????? madness.

what is the big round hole below the smiling face for?

I guess no matter who we engage, owners will need to keep a close watch on the works ourselves. Hey smallboy, how's the whole process of your work now? by this weekend got carpentry to see or not?

the hole is for some pipe to go in... I think...

The smiley face (holes) is really really funny. Think the guy lost control of the drill.................:) :)

Carpentry will be next week........... we just walked thru a 3 hours meeting last sat...... so tiring..... to confirm all capentry work............ hopefully you can see some next week.

Ah Soon just called........ he said his guys start the fabrication of the wardrobe already......... very FAST! yippee.....:) :)

NOw, wife frust and blur over KITCHEN drawers. She is adding lots of 'BLUM" style drawers....... initially wanted to just install the Ikea ones.... now the carpentry guy suggested BLUM and she is tempted!

Any comments on IKEA and BLUM drawers??? She wants the metal box type.... dont want to see wood at the side.

Hi Smallboy,

I'm quite confused :)

Can we buy IKEA drawer-runners and ask our ID/contractor install them or we need to buy whole IKEA drawers? I dont like IKEA wood - and its laminate :). If it's posible, I'll buy their mechanical runners only.

My contractor doing the carcass (the cabinets), doors etc.... I am loking to buy the internal drawers called Rationell fully extended drawers....... ie.. it comes with the runners, metal sides.... and that piece of wood for the base. The outside (door) is as per my contractor supplied.

Ikea does not sell the runners only. You can check blum, though. They sell the runners, tracks.... soft closing etc.

Dont know if I make sense.

Hi, just to check, since you are using Ah Soon, it should come with all the soft close already isn't it? If that's the case, why spend more on BLUM?

From Smallboy's wife (Wendy):

In Ah Soon quotes/any ID quotes... they only give you a row of 3 drawers only. The rest are all 'open-door' cabinets.

Yes.. Uncle already includes soft closing.

But I want my kitchen to have those long drawers type (you see those Ikea advertisement)...... I dont want those doors type where I got to bend down and dig for things. I want it all pull-out system so I can access to my stuff easily. :) :) :)

Ahhh icici, okok. Then hor, perhaps if you can, get some design, show it to him and ask if he can fabricate something similar? If so, you can save further cost?

oh, I understood :) - it's this:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70108926

Then, carpenter will add front panel(plank) c/w laminated/ABS trimming, am I right?

I'll ask my ID whether I should use the IKEA's . I won't choose Blum - very expensive. Ikea's is good enough (for me)

Thanks for information!
