Dream Home @ Clementi

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am a newbie here. Going to sign my OTP soon and I am very excited to find such an informative forum on renovation. Look forward to hear from all the seniors on your renovation experience.

For a starter, attached is the layout of my unit. If your house is the same layout, hope you could share with us your design concept and ID. Thanks!

wah...store rm at MBR?

Yes, we were surprised too that the current owner did the change. We suspect that they were planning to use the store room for walk-in-wardrode but later changed their mind. We planned to shift the door back.

12 Dec

Today is our first serious visit to ID. We visited LWT (Clementi Ave 4) and Hoe Aik Renovation and Construction. We chose these two companies because they are within walking distance from our current house.

LWT

The Project Executive that attended to us was quite young and does not appear to be very experience. He just recorded down our requirements without adding much new insights or ideas. Will update on their design proposal and costing once I received it.

Hoe Aik

My wife was quite impressed with the "uncles" from Hoe Aik. They seems to be very experience and able to provide counter proposal to our idea. They seem to know Clementi area very well. It was a positive encounter. Will update on their design proposal and costing once I received it.

Any others who have engaged these companies before? Couldn't find any feedback on Hoe Aik on the forum. We will be going down to IMM to look at other ID/renovation shop over the next few days.

congrats on new place. very good layout!

btw, shifting the door back might cost quite abit wor. door frames are expensive. cost about 1k for frame and door i think,u gotta hack the area out for the door to fit in and plaster back where it was now. think the whole door shift cost 2k at least. but the door gotta go for sure, not sure if you "pangtang" or not. but 3 doors in a room + room-in-room usually not good de...

not sure if u are into wiw bo. the area outside the toilet is like fated to be wiw area!!haha. maybe you can hack away the storeroom to enlarge the bedroom and use it as a relax corner or study/pc area lo.think will be quite nice. :P

Finally, after much time spent with different ID and contractors, we have found the winner......

The winner is........ AH SOON..... :dancingqueen:

We have decided for a few reasons....

a. His workmanship is good. Thanks to Frank and wify who offered to show us their home done up by AH SOON.

b. He is open to discussion and negotiation.

c. He is friendly and appeared trustworthy.

d. He has sufficient business to ride through the economy downturn.

e. His quotation is very competitive.

If you need Ah Soon's contact, please pm me.....
