preciousjam 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 haha i think our hubbies are the commando in this renovation thingy. I can be too kan cheong in trying to do some things and miss out the pictures. he is more tactful in dealing with people and know his ways to get things right. that's what we call "perfect match"...we are meant to complement them.... adrian_john 1 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) welcome welcome. no worries. previously we fiddled with the idea of the wood grain tiles and pebble wash for a long time and decided to have it in the end. too bad i can't knock down any walls at home, else i'd have knocked down the kitchen walls and push the wall into the wardrobe room, then merge wardrobe room with mbr. like that can have a kitchen island, and don't need so mafan to walk into the wardrobe room. haha i shld invite RT pple to my house during our housewarming at one go. Buffet catered, what do u think? Yes, it is indeed a pity that you're not able to knock down the walls or else I'm sure you'd have enjoyed playing with the extra open space as your layout has much potential for that. Your layout is exactly the same as my cousin's in Bukit Batok. She made the house look very big by placing a half-height mirror that stretched across the entire living room wall. Seeing your place has helped affirm the quality and reliability of Ah Soon. I guess we'll most likely sign him up. If you're having a housewarming and are looking for quality home-cooked mexican food at very affordable prices, let me know, and I can recommend you somebody who does this. TIA Hi, currently Ah Soon is doing my place. I remembered asking him about kitchen cabinets. He said all his doors and drawers come with soft closing. And his kitchen quotes comes with a set of 3 drawers ONLY. If you want more drawers type, got to pay more. I didn't ask about handles... cos I want no handles type. As for shelves........ I also didnt ask. i assume only 1 shelf inside 1 cabinet. Now I am doing more DRAWERS and I want the BLUM Tandembox type of drawers, I got to pay more..... .... which I am fine cos I expected this. Most ID and contractors only give a set of 3 drawers in their kitchen quotes.

pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 Smallboy ... I don't know why it's different.. but when I did my kitchen with Ah Soon, he allowed us to have different number of drawers. We planned different layouts and asked for 5 drawers, 7 drawers he also said ok. But in the end, because my mom wanted it to be 3, he made three. He didn't say he would charge us for more drawers or more shelves. mmm I would like to say.. that at that point, I had not recommended anyone to do their house with Ah Soon yet. So it wasn't an "added benefit" I only started recommending after my carpentry was going to be done.
xvirusga76 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 fondue! omg! i was definitely drooling at your WIW when we were at your place! its really really huge! gosh..! *envy*.. renovations pretty well done actually, carpentry is above my mark actually, so *phew* i am rather relieved. btw, i think you are right abt the hinges of your kitchen cabinets rather stiff, we had to use *bull strength* too. one qn, did you choose a high gloss white laminate for your kitchen ? and i mus say.. maybe i am alittle suay ku.. the new bi-fold door system at your toilets kinda impressed me i'll get this as well vs frosted glass.. (cut cost)... and also trouble you to pm me your toilet tiles code. thanks!!

So Uncle charge you 1 price for the kitchen cabinets then it includes the laminate- surface, and whatever number of drawers & shelving u want?? Cos i wanna do 2 pull-out drawers at each section for all the bottom and top cabinets will be all shelves instead, if all are charged separately, i cant imagine how much more they will cost? Pinkpetter, btw how are the soft-closing hinges so far provided by Uncle huh, pull-out drawers also soft-closing right? Cos I think one of the owner said that its a bit tight to open leh. Btw does Ah Soon do suspended bottom cabinets? those that i can put cove lightings below one..more modern i think. How much more expensive or cheaper is that, since now no cabinet base with matching tiles le? Apologise for so many qns
gongkia 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 we also have 5 drawers in the end. We did not specify in the beginning how many drawers we need. It's actually design by Jason which i think it looks good in the end?
Reiki 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2009 so many people doing blum drawers...can tell me what's so unique? Basically, the Blum mechanism/technology, particularly the BluMotion, it is a soft close technology. With just a light touch, they close silently and effortlessly. Ikea has also introduced such technology. The TandemBox is Blum construction for drawers, inner drawers, high fronted pullouts and inner pullouts. It also includes drawers for cutlery and kitchen utensils Blum Tandembox Video Another Blum mechanism that is highly recommended [should you are already into Blum] is the Aventos system. Blum Aventosen Video I guess the main uniqueness of Blum is the easy to open mechanism and the soft closing technology. We can actually get Blum parts and get our carpenter to integrate them. It is cheaper this way rather than to have full Blum System.
