Autofocus 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 Hi All, I need to remove the rockstone finish in the resale flat i bought recently. But it seems like after googling a bit I still don't have the answer to how to remove it, especially from sanitary pipes. I know that for wall and ceiling I can either plaster it (is it lasting?) or file it away but for pipes and other similar surfaces, it will seem impossible. Anyone faced with similar problems have any solutions??? Thanks in advance!
de_Pierre 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 Plastering is the only way to cover the rockstones... Of cos its lasting, jus like cement screeding on walls...

I think the big problem i have is that the finish was done to the top parts of most sanitary pipes in the house which in my opinion is quite unsightly. de_Pierre 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2008 Urs is PVC or cast iron pipes? Scraping can be done on cast iron pipes... Maybe can try sanding method on PVC... I've never done spraying of rock stones on pipes nor heard any1 did it b4 on PVC pipes after it was introduced to replace the rusty iron pipes... Bcs spray rock stone is 'passed' liao... Ami 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2008 The only way to do it to change the pipes, but bear in mind anything connected to your neighbours up and down, you won't be able to do anything. The unit I bought, the walls also covered with rock stones and contractor mentioned plastering's the only way. The rest, I'm hidding them behind cabinets. Its on PVC pipes. I guess sanding it off is the only method.... Some of them are connected up and down to other units and some are for the unit itself so there are actually quite a few pipes with that textured finish. Was at the paint shop yesterday and the owner told me to try applying 'acid' and then scraping it off.
