Aircon System 3 Inverter

Seen many ppl recommended Hong Tar, and got a quote from them.

Mitsubishi Electric: MXY-3A28 @2850

Daikin: 3MKD75 (the one with R22 gas) @ 2900

3MKS71 (the one with 410 Gas- the new type of gas) @ 3300

My contractor has some partenered technician quote us 2650$. Didn't discuss with the details, but I guess maybe is Mitsubishi Heavy & Daikin R22

Think to take from Hong Tar, but not sure which one to take... Is the 410Gas worth so much difference?

and brand wise, which one is better?

in Hong Tar's quote, the installation would be on

- 1/2 inch whatever... (not get what's that, seems is a kind of standard for piping)

- 16mm (also didn't get the detail, but the number is 16mm)

- copper 23 (a copper standard, heard got 24 also, but 23 is better than 24)

It seems Hong Tar use the best quality accessaries for installation.

Other than that, 5 yr compressor warranty, 1 yr workmanship & spare parts warranty.

Can't reach the technician which my contractor recommended... Although he quoted us quite cheap, but I have a feeling, later if got anything goes wrong, we couldn't reach him...

Well I also got my air-con from them though. The lady at Hong Tar did commented about the price of Daiken. She did mentioned that its only Daiken that is selling their air-con at such a high price. Well I also noticed that the other brand that is selling above 3k is Sanyo, but that is beside the point. As you have noticed, Mitshubishi is also using R410 and still selling below 3k. I think for this instance, its more like the brand more than any thing else.

Went down to Hong Tar Today, and got some more recommendation on Fujisu & Mitsubishi Heavy industry

Both about 2600+, and have some more functions like Ionizer, or self dry function ..

Seems attractive too... Really hard to choose the model...

Any recommendation?

haha...me also made a commitment with Hong Tar this morning. Here are my specs. I was served by Katherine Wong. I like her down to earth, transparent and non-pushing approach. Hope my installation will go smoothly as planned too....

Hi, can you tell me how many BTU is the unit they quoted you huh? $2850 is good leh. I was offered $2990. They will write it for you in a piece of paper one right?

Hi henrywoo1978, our initial choice was Toshiba actually. Had a proposal from both All Best and also Hong Tar. We did not choose Toshiba in the end as they do not have the ideal BTU breakdown which we require. As you can see, I am using a larger BTU in my MBR/WIW/Study as we hack off the wall. The living/dining room also requires a moderate BTU to subtain. If we were to choose other brands, we may have to take 4 units instead of 3. Thus, this was the most ideal for us. Toshiba can only do up to 2 x 12BTU and 1 x 9BTU for 3 units system. The current Mitsubishi Starmex which I took gives us 18BTU in the MBR/WIW/Study, 13BTU in the Living/Dinning and 9BTU for the common room. Not sure if I make any sense to you hehehe

correcto...plus we will spend most of our time in the room. If the BTU is not sufficient, it will only make the aircon work harder. It will consume more electricity this way. This is what we have learnt from our aircon studies lah
