Cosy Countryside Place In The West

Recommended Posts

Hello people!

Have been camping in this forum for the longest time already and reading thru everybody's posts. Finally it's my turn as my hunt for ID is over and the design phase is going to start soon. :notti:

The theme that we want is a country theme, which is not a very common design for local design firms. (verified that by the looks on their faces :dunno: :dunno: when we told them that we want a country look )

In the end, we settled for an independent designer, Loyd, who was extremely friendly and nice to work with. His attitude of "I wana work with you, not work for you" also left a gd impression on us as we felt that home designs should be collaborative rather than the ID's work alone.

Anyway, that's all for my first post. Will be uploading my floor plans and stuff soon as the discussion begins~ Can't wait to start! :yamseng:

Oooo Country theme! I think for the kitchen it shouldn't be hard... plenty of wood but... for the outside area and the sofa that'll be a bit of a challenge!! Exciting!

Yah, I'm expecting lots of white finishing for the wood stuff (think will die maintaining, but nevermind :D ) and for the living area, we have a huge slanted wall to consider.. our ID have a tough job ahead :sport-smiley-004:

most of the id that we spoke to always recommend us Modern Style haha...

yah loh.. it seems very cookie cutter style to me.. zz

cos their portfolio consists mainly of modern style and and they seem quite reluctant when they heard that we want country style.. maybe out of their comfort zone bah.. hehehe..

Hi all,

here is my floor plan as promised.

See how the slanted wall can be a problem? Even my ID said it would be quite challenging for him. :D

OOohhhOOHh but such a nice long wall!!! haha you know how country houses have plenty of stuff hung on the walls? Like wooden frames and stuff? it'll be perfect!!!

Though it's true that the slanted wall might be a challenge but I think at least there's only one pointed corner and not odd shapes and corners all over. the rest of the place is squarish!! nice nice!

Yeah, we got a book on country styled decor at the MPH book fair at expo a few weeks ago, and gotten quite some ideas there. Lots of wallpapering, and wooden frames. And for some reason, they hang plates on the wall too. Dun think we will be following that. Hahahaha.

Can't wait to share the ideas with my ID and see what he will come up with. :D

It is not just the IDs that is into modern style, even the furniture makers are following the same trend. I have a hard time trying to find a 'non-modern style' TV console. :bangwall:

Anyway, good luck for your reno. Look forward to your 3D designs :notti:

Wow, you have an interesting theme and layout ... the portfolio of your ID looks good! :dribble:

Will your ID help to co-ordinate with the contractors as well?

Look forward to see the 3D conceptual drawings for your house too :)
